Why not all?

It's recommended (at least by Mobil) for virtually all European cars except for those equipped with diesel particulate filters (DPFs), as it says explicitly in the datasheet.

That's because DPFs require low-ash (ash meaning burned metal, translating mainly as low-detergent [which further translates as low-TBN]) oil to prevent early clogging from the oil ash in the exhaust.

There are primarily two types of oil in Europe right now: the good old high-SAPS (sulphated ash, phosphorus, and sulfur) oils vs. the new low-SAPS oils. Again, low-SAPs oils are for primarily protecting early clogging of DPFs. There are also claims that the low-SAPS oils could reduce valve deposits in direct-injection gasoline engines but I think they are exaggerated.

The dino today is very close to synthetic of yesteryear. For this kind of pricing there's no reason not to do extended drain and top off with synthetic if you are out of warranty.

Or you can look at it from the other end of the spectrum and say that todays synthetic isn't that much better than todays conventional oil, and save the money spent on oil for better beer. After all, i have never lost an engine due to bad oil, but i have drank more than enough bad beer. And i don't believe in extended drain intervals... The additive package in synthetic is consumed at the same rate as that in conventional oil.

In just 2 years(2010-2012) time the metrolink rose what seemed like $2( mostly likely $1.xx). I stopped taking it and carpooled. Also no more 10 fare tickets and no purchasing evening tickets in the morning.

Metrolink is a separate Southern California intercounty agency for commuter rail. Measure R 0.5% sales tax for rail expansion and low transit fares apply to Los Angeles County Metro, which runs the bus, light-rail, and subway lines in LA County.

Ten fare tickets?

I never had to purchase a subway ticket with my 10 pass ticket metrolink pack. So I never noticed the price increase or lack there of. The 10 pass was a ticket that was good for 10 one way trips on the metrolink. I would stamp it and be able to board the train. Now you have to purchase a ticket every time you ride. This includes buying a subway ticket on the way home because you can not buy tickets ahead of time.

Be interesting to know how much of a percentage of total Mobil 1 sales are through Wal-Mart?

Has to be substantial.

Even at $25.00 here i would not buy it!

Exactly. I can't understand how some people can call $5.00 a quart cheap.

Oil used to be a dollar a quart and that was for name brand oil too.

There is other oils that go for quite a few dollars more if not double than Mobil 1. So comparatively speaking, it is cheap. Just not cheap to your mind still stuck in 2003 that has not adjusted to the reality of Oil prices across the whole spectrum being considerably more.

You either pay to play or go home.
