Walmart oil prices - Ah!

I bought this same 3-pack delivered to my door for $99.00 and free delivery last year, same with Mobil 1's 0W-40 FS. It was as high as $199.00 in recent months but has dropped to what you see here. I suspect stockpiling is the main reason behind it.

Prices remained low for quite some time and are now going up, but the other piece of the puzzle are shortages due to the Pearl GTL plant being offline. Right now, it's the higher prices we have to deal with. Before long, I believe it's going to be shortages on the shelves of some products, also.

I ordered another 5W-30 jug for $29.97 last night for delivery Wed from Amazon. It shipped before the price went up to $35.97 overnight. I'm covered for 2 cars with VRP until 2028. Merc uses ESP and I'm good there too.

The hoarding just has never worked for me. Prices go up and go down, I just buy what I need as I need it. I know I beat a dead horse here but FCP Euro, which could end for me tomorrow for all I know, has made it a non-factor. Even then we're talking the price of fast food

Price jumping is largely from Iran war and Ukraine hitting the Russian fleets and processing. Oil on the shelf today is reflective of contract pricing 3-6 months ago.

Seeing this increase yesterday, I grabbed 2 more Mobil Euro 0w-40 off Amazon while it was $25.
I wonder why the Castrol GTX and Edge products are still sub $24 when all others increased 4-6$ ??

Castrol has a huge global footprint and has more oil stockpiled relative to sales than the others. Eventually it will either catch up to them or they will weather the wait for Group III production to increase fairly well.

Hoarding is a disgusting sickness.

Even worse are the lurkers who actively look for a mistake in pricing and take advantage of it. How about instead do the right thing and point out the mistake?

I just reordered (online for curbside pu) my Castrol Euro 5w40. Same price I have been paying. 23.97. Got 2 just in case. I change oil once a month. Courier business. Lots of miles. Buy my filters in 6 packs from RA

I disagree. The term hoarding is broad and subjective. It could mean someone has like 5 jugs of VRP, or like 30. And let’s say they do have like 30 jugs, it is any of our business? I’m sure those that stocked up are thankful, as now we see the prices rise and probably won’t get any better after. Experts here warned us ASAP. That isn’t a sickness, that just considering current events and how to make wise purchases while getting one of the best oils for your vehicle. Hoarding is collecting junk of no value.

If say Autozone or Walmart makes a mistake in pricing, why is it our fault? They have a whole system in place, it’s not like one person sets the price and forgets it. They’re huge companies who make millions, I’m sure the small percentage of us here won’t hurt their profits 😉
