just came from our local walmart and the oil prices have gone up again.the cheapest conventional brand name is mobil clean 5000 at 10.50 and they only have 10-30 my sonatas have a sliding scale on oil vis.so i bought a couple of five ouart jugs also a couple of yellow jugs of 5-20 and a couple jugs of mc 5-20 they are $12.00 a jug vavoline is $11.00 a jug so what to h-ll bought some of those too.i might be crazy but i think it will climb even higher.all so the super tech oil filters are a little smaller than they use to be.

ha not for my car, maybe my moms

As mentioned before, WM has pretty much priced themselves out of the oil market in my book. I can find M1 quarts cheaper at other stores. I'll just wait for the rebates and stock up. I already have enough oil on hand for 18 months.

Stupid Bob Is The Oil Guy stock up on oil and filters

Between my dad and I we have 56 quarts of unopened oil stocked up, not to mention a bunch of leftover bulk stuff from his days of farming. Walmart won't be seeing any of my $ for oil for several years unless prices come down.

I still find it hard to beat Wal-Mart's price on certain oils. Like 5 quarts of YB for $12, or 5 quarts of MaxLife for $13. That's not bad...other stores are at least as high. Regrettably (for me), Wal-Mart doesn't sell Purolator filters. So I DO usually end up shopping elsewhere.

Just saw PP $0.10/qrt less than RP at AZ today. WM has PP 5qrts at 23, Valvo Syns are the same 19 and 20 for 5 qrts.

Everything went up.

Mobil5000 used to be 8.97 per jug, now its 11.

Same with Quaker State, up to 11 bucks..

Yellow Bottle went up a buck to 12 bucks, I went with that for a change, seemed like the best deal of them all.

Good thing I have a stash of ten ecotec cartridge filters from the purolator amazon sale..

Just got back...

(all are 5 qt jugs. Get ready for 4 qt jugs with close to the same prices in the future)

Mobil 5000 is $13

Mobil 1 is $28

Mobil 1 EP is $32

PP is $24

Pennzoil conventional is $14

Castrol GTX is $16

Syntec is $25

Blend is $21

Maxlife is $21

Maxlife blend is $17

Valvoline conventional is $13

Halvoline DS is $14

QS is $13

QS syn is $21

Supertech is $11

Supertech syn is $17

Supertech filters are $3.48

Looks like Fram air filters went up about $2 each.

Also noted that Federal 22LR 550 rounds which I normally paid $11.97 for went up to $13.91 in one week..) All other brands (REM and Winchester also up)

Glad my paycheck is going up as fast as the cost of living.

If you guys can get stuff at a lower price, buy it now. If the price goes down in the next 3 months, you can take it back and get a refund at the higher prices and rebuy.

A stash will save you $$. It has for me over the years. Glad I bought those Mobil 5000 jugs @ $9 for some cars in the family.

Take care, bill

One other thing...

The Wal-Mart lube place was priced @ $28 for oil change and $49 for a Syn oil change. (up to 5 qts)

I don't know what the price was so I don't know if it went up, but they had a big floor sign in the oil section.

Saw pennzoil conventional for $3.57 per quart there yesterday, 5 qt. bottle for $12.
Just wondering: with world oil prices coming down in recent months, to 80-some dollars a barrel lately this past week, will the shelf price of motor oil come down in coming weeks?

I think we saw that it took a while for the high prices to kick in, so I would expect that it will take some time for the prices to drop. And if the price of oil stays down, then the prices of motor oil will come back down...

This is one of the reasons I'm waiting on until later on this winter to begin my stash of motor oil and filters. If the price of oil continues to drop within the next few months then they will have to lower the prices of oil, on the other hand though excessive inflation could cause prices to rise.

Strangely, my local Costco now has VERY little oil on the shelf... they used to have pallets full.

They only had M1 in 10w30... Shell in 5w30 and the new 3/1gal packs of Rotella. No other grades... and very few boxes

The six pack of M1 was ~$32 ... priced better than WM... which never happens.

My local WM refects the pricing being posted by others... and I can say this... the shelves are FULL.

My local WM oil department is so disorganized and barren. This has now caused me to drive another 15 minutes to find some comfort.
