My first car was a wagon. Mazda Protege5. It was a great car, but I sold it to get a Miata. The perfect college kid car. Fun, but slow. Wagons are great, but they are not on the same level as minivans. Give me minivans or give me death! Minivans are the vehicles of rebels today. Counterculture. Because only people with impregnable confidences can drive them. Everyone else in SUVs and trucks are pretentious drones.
 
Lol. The 3.8 town and country gen IV was fun, but it couldn’t corner hard like a proper wagon. Gotta brake harder, hit the turn on at least 3 wheels, then lay it down once it’s mostly flattened out. my issue is that I was spoiled. I still have the eye for a p2 wagon, or possibly newer, but the near 50/50 weight distribution AND 50/50 torque distribution in the 97 legacy 5mt I had was surreal. Now, it only made 136 hp so it worked hard daily just to keep up, but the dynamics oozed balance. I’ve had a hard time with anything FWD since then, which is why I now own a pickup. With a rear sway bar. And upgraded shocks. And… I drive it far far far far less aggressively.
 
I brought home a pdp11 mainframe mounted in a full 72” computer rack in mine, years ago.

it was absolutely on the bumpstops. And there was a lot of rope!

Wagons are the automotive equivalent of Swiss Army knives. A wagon is just a little longer but drives like a car. Can transport 5 or more people, can haul a lot of luggage, or be useful for shopping, camping, and traveling. They still make a few proper wagons. The Outback is probably the only one under $30k. And hatchbacks don't count as wagons unless you are a 5-foot girl. ;)

What about Saab's CombiCoupé bodystyle? My 900 turbo 16S could haul more cargo than many wagons.

Had to get a sedan to make co-students rent a van when moving instead of calling me. :cool:
 
So my 1995 Odyssey's front half (mechanically) is 99% interchangeable with the Accord of same era. From suspension to engine/tranny and all accessories. Does that make the Odyssey a big wagon? Or a small van? As a matter of fact, soon it will get the lowering springs from a 1993 Accord...
