Wagon superiority thread

We had a '78 Malibu we inherited from my grandparents back in the late '80s that looked just like this plus a roof rack.

It was in relatively fine shape but it ended up being a parts donor for my '78 two door. I'd love to have either back now! If I only knew then how much clean G-bodies would be worth someday...

I wish Mercedes had seen fit to offer the C43 wagon in the US. Ditto for BMW and the M340i.

never owned a longroof BUT surely like them + will NEVER own an overprices SUV or anything electric!! wagons haul more but still handle well unlike SUV's IMO. thanks to all for the great pics! Dad a fisherman had several + remember his Eagle, family trip to jersey he asked should i drive the wagon i said my 62 bel-air a real 4 door monster will do fine, 4 people with luggage + room to SPARE!!

wagons are sweet.. fun to drive like a smallish car, space like a suv. all i see on the roads are boring minivans.

i'd take a rwd passat TDI wagon any day

i dont understand the black condom on the hood.
what is the reason for it ?
You've never seen a hood bra? They were pretty popular "back in the day". The paint is really chewed up on the front so this is to just avoid a paint job right now and honestly, always thought they looked cool on some cars back in the '80s/'90s.

Protection from stone chips. You pay with scratchmarks, though.
hahahah - I'm well past that on the front so no cares given at this point w/r to light scratches. You just have to take care of it - remove in rain, keep it really waxed under there etc. VW made one just like this with "W8" embroidered on it that I am looking to have someone do to it.
