Vw substitute for G-12

We are pleased to announce the release of the new improved G12+ coolant/anti-freeze.

ZVW 237 G12 "pink" G 012 A8F A4 "purple"

Effective December 19, 2002 part number G 012 A8F A4 has been added to both the U.S. &

Canadian Quantity Discount Program. The price will remain the same as previous part

number ZVW 237 G12.

NOTE:

1.New antifreeze, Part No: G 012 A8F A4:

- Color = Purple

- Replaces Part No: ZVW 237 G12 (Pink)

- Can be mixed with ZVW 237 G12 (Pink)

- DO NOT mix with ZVW 237 105 (green) or any aftermarket antifreeze

- DOES NOT replace Part No: ZVW 237 105 (green)

2.Antifreeze, Part No: ZVW 237 G12:

- Color = Pink

- Can be mixed with G 012 A8F A4 (purple)

- DO NOT mix with ZVW 237 105 (green) or any aftermarket antifreeze

- DOES NOT replace Part No ZVW 237 105 (green)

3. Regular antifreeze, Part No: ZVW 237 105:

- Color = Green

- DOES NOT replace and cannot be mixed with Part No: G 012 A8F A4 (purple)

- DOES NOT replace and cannot be mixed with Part No: ZVW 237 G12 (pink)

thanx for the reply. i also have read this at TDIClub. My problem is that my current stock of G12, G 012 A8F A4 is not color = Purple or Violet as some say it is. It is colored PINK. And to confound things, my new GTI's fluid is labeled at the expansion tank as G12 and not G12 ++ as is recommended in the manual. I must say the tank fluid looks identical to G12, p/n G 012 A8F A4. So should I believe I have G12 or G12 ++ ?

the 2010 would be G12++(G40)silicated...very different from the G12(G30)..a vw dealer should explain the confusion away or better yet, take the car too a couple of dealers.. http://www.performancechemicals.basf.com...santin/products ..it is rather difficult to judge by color..

I think your 2010 VW would have G12++ (G40) silicated coolant. It's hard to say why your stock of G12+ (G30) coolant would be pink and not purple/violent, but it is the spec that matters and not the color. G12+ is for 2007 and earlier.

In my opinion G12++ would be backwards compatible for G12/12+.
