My synchros are worn in my 1998 VW JEtta manual transmission. I have installed a mixture of 75W140 (1 quart) and 75W90(half quart) lubes, this is heavier than the specified viscosity(75W90). I did this becaause the synchros from 2-3 stopped working when the trans was hot. So far the shift quality is the same overall, and the problem has lessened with the heavier lube. No notchiness at cold operation. Brand of lube: Amsoil, type: Severe Gear.

You might try our MTL-R as it is optimized for synchromesh type transmissions, whereas differential specific fluids are designed for HD gear operation.

Can't guarantee it will refresh a worn transmission, but it has helped many a "weary" one.
