Your new VW will be used soon enough.

Also, why isn't the Audi a CPO? That could be a red flag right there.

Very unimpressive and cheap looking. I thought VW did a better job.

I'm waiting to buy an Atlas...looking for the ideal one to pop up.

I was looking Atlas. VR6 feels really underpowered there. This engine in Sienna actually feels much more powerful then VR6.
Make sure you try Atlas for a longer time. I went back 5 times for longer drives.

Thanks! I'm thinking the 2L fwd. might be better because of weight and the torque.
It's close to the 6. Of course no awd or much towing.
I will take them for a few drives.

Did you check the VW dealership in Lawrence? They where by far the cheapest VW dealership in KS when I was looking for my Jetta. I went up to KC, Bud Brown and Lee Summit, they where so overpriced. I told them what Lawrence quoted me, the sales people pretty much shrugged.

I actually got a chance to drive the Base model Atlas with 2.0L and FWD. I thought it had plenty of low end power. If used slightly with typical VW depreciation and cheap enough I'd consider this vehicle.

To op the leatherette in our 2018 VW Tiguan was perfect over summer. No issues and it holds up really well. My wife crazily got really light grey with kids but it wipes off so easily.

Lees Summit is usually lowest here, but a small VW dealer I didn't even know about (Molle) has the GT advertised for just under 26k. That's the one I drove. Nobody else is advertising anywhere near that, might be different in person. Ironically they also have the Audi that is most tempting me, but not married to that one if a better one pops up.

You all have been very helpful, thank you.

That's a really good question. Sales lady said you could get a good warranty for what they would have to charge you if they CPO'd the car, so they don't. Not sure if I bought that line, but it is a one owner dealer serviced lease trade in and they are an Audi dealer, not thinking it's a car to be too suspicious of. Drove wonderfully.

Given the same amount of money, I'd rather the CPO. There is a HUGE difference between official CPO with a real manufacturer's warranty vs those scam aftermarket warranties like Carshield.

The ONLY non-mfr warranty worth anything is the Carmax extended warranty.

And with Audi, you know you will need the warranty. You know it is not exactly a Toyota in terms of reliability. Either brand new, CPO, or Carmax.

KC- please update this thread when you an- very informative and I'm looking now too.
Here they are about giving away 18 Passat GT's- I'm still thinking on them but an Atlas suits me a bit better

Yeah I am definitely not a fan of aftermarket warranties. I have never bought one and never will. Even CarMax's warranty gets absolutely lit up reading on line reviews and it is probably one of the better ones.

I did have a dealer throw in a warranty at no charge on my 04 Jeep when negotiations were going south. It was a Protection One warranty which turned out to be worth it's weight in gold, the vehicle had hidden issues despite a glowing Carfax report and Protection One ended up sinking over 6k into that thing the first 6 months I owned it. They were not happy but it saved my hiney for sure.

Was a great vehicle thereafter drove it 7.5 years.

As far as the Audi goes, per the Carfax it appears the dealer did not do the whole 35k service just about half of it. Not impressed with that. It should have had a cabin filter change and spark plug change at 35k, they changed the oil and did the easy stuff like tires. And unless the lease owner ran it into Iffy Lube for it's last oil change, it didn't get one till the dealer changed it which at that point was 18k miles. Who knows what the level was by then either.

Incomplete maintenance could certainly prevent the car from being CPO eligible.

Yes, 2ltr is only 8lb-ft down but at much lower rpm and much less weight. Unfortunately we are not getting 2ltr AWD like Russia does.

That's the issue. But I do have another awd and a big truck for towing.
Plus the mpg on the four is a good bit better as well. VW is making things interesting.
Notice I did not mention "508" : )

I'll chime in with my personal experience with V-Tex leatherette. I was really concerned about getting hot and sweaty during the summer, but I have been really pleased...easy to clean, not showing any wear, seems to breathe OK (I think the perforations help) and I'm very happy with it. I'd still prefer nice cloth, but with 3 shaggy dogs leather or vinyl is so much easier to keep clean...dog hair seems to "weave" itself into the fabric and can be tough to remove. I use a seat cover in the back seat for the beasties but hair still seems to get everywhere.

LOL, I think on 2.0T ATlas it might be 502 since it is GTI version of an engine.
I would check Atlas thoroughly for steer torque. There is a lot of weight behind for FWD only vehicle.

I have no idea Edy- It changes daily. I hear a new Atlas manual is out with 0w30- no idea

VW 508.00/509.00
This specification combo (508.00 for petrol, 509.00 for diesel) requires a 0W20 viscosity, fuel economy oil with long life additives. These specifications are NOT backward compatible with the eariler VW specifications. Recommended for the new 2.0 TFSI 140 kW and 3.0 TDI CR 160 kW VW/Audi engines.

I'm looking at the 2018 Atlas owner's manual - approved engine oil is listed as 502.00, for both the 4-cyl and the 6-cyl engines. They also want you to stick to 0w30 grade, specifically, it seems.

What revision was that do you know? Thanks!

There was some talk about it. It seems that VW in a rush to get out Atlas (and they really rushed it) copy/pasted some manual instructions from EU for engines which specify 0W30. But, that is irrelevant. 99% of American dealerships use 5W40 OE in VR6 and EA888.
Local Wal Mart has Castrol 0W40 which is better choice then 5W40 OE.
Important thing is to meet VW502.00.
