2013 Passat VR6 - the new used DD

Oh man, 9th gen Corolla is the GOAT. I can't say I agree with you on it being boring to drive. Although my 9th gen has the manual 5 speed. With the 5 speed it feels like a different car vs. the 4 speed auto.

Total weight of around 2500 lbs, 1ZZ has plenty of low end usable torque, this car zips, good mpg, drop dead simple to work on, cheap to run, and lasts forever.

I'll leave you with the same thing my Toyota dealership parts counterman told me a couple months ago last time I picked up some parts for it: "don't ever sell it".
Agreed. 9th Gen Corolla is the high mark, every generation after that I’ve driven has felt downhill. The difference between the 5speed and the 4 speed auto on this gen is significant. How many miles on yours?
Mine just ticked over 221k miles and still gives great mileage. The low end torque is very usable around town but on a long backroads commute, it could use a bit more passing power which the 2zzs had.

If I do ever sell it, I’m hoping I’ll someone who will take care of her.

Looks sharp. Funny thing, I did test drive a black GT before this one popped up. The seller was asking stupid money and wouldn’t budge on their asking price. Oh well

They only made them in 2018 and lot a whole lot of them. I got almost what I paid for it when I traded. What a dummy.

Nice! What year GLI did you end up with? I didn’t consider the GLI - just the Passat because we needed the rear leg room to get 2 car seats in the back. The difference between the 2.5 and VR6 was night and day.
2019...first year for the MK7 Jetta. It's classified as a compact but grew considerably from previous generations where it really is more like a mid size, hence why VW killed the Passat in the US since now the Jetta bridges the size gap between the two.
