I recently changed the DSG fluid in my 2010 Audi A3 Quattro. What exactly is DSG fluid? I know the DSG is essentially a manual transmission. What functions does the DSG fluid have to perform above and beyond those of standard gear oil?
Is it the G 052 182 A2 fluid? I'm looking at a leaflet of Pentosin FFL-2 which is basically the same as this fluid and it reads:
Quote:
FFL-2 features a special clutch friction performance which makes it mandatory to be applied solely to the double clutch gear box
This of course doesn't say much, but if I had to guess, the oil is free of any sort of friction modifiers to minimize clutch slipping. Other than that, with a VI of 173 and a pour point of -51C, it seems like a very stout fluid.
G 052 182 A2 is the correct VW/AUDI PN. I guess the fact that the DSG has wet clutches answers my question. I'll have to do some more reading on how the DSG works.
