I need
5w40 for vw 502 00 and 0w20 for vw 508 00

Which oils meet this in canada and or which are recommended . As I don't believe castrol of this spec is carried here .

Canadian Tire usually carries the 508.00/509.00. But, it shows that they are out of stock. The best place to buy it is from VW, Audi or Skoda dealerships.
502.00 should be fairly easy to find. Walmart, Canadian Tire and etc.

Ok thx . For the car that takes 502 . Is it worth or advisable changing to a 507 or 508

Which 508 do they have
Which 502 do u guys recommend

And for what it's worth you don't need a 5W-40 for the 502 00 approval, you just need a 502 00 approved oil. You can pick a suitable winter rating from the available approved oils. Grades are a recommendation, approvals are required. There are also a few 30-grade oils that also have 502 00 approval and those are also acceptable. All of them have to meet a minimum HT/HS which is the important criteria. One recommendation for a 502 00 oil is the least expensive one you can find that has the approval.

2020 audi q5 0w20
2017 s5 5w40
Check whether 2020 Q5 has the option of VW 5004/507.00 in the manual.
In reality, in both, you can use VW504.00/507.00
If 2020 has only VW508.00/509.00 option, use whatever approved.
For 2017 you can use VW502.00 or VW504.00/507.00. The grade is irrelevant. Approval is what counts.

Our weather here fluctuates. From winter of -20 to 42 degress Celsius in summmer so should i stick with 5w40?

Whats the difference with all these oils .
Which don't burn off easily and or clean the best

How do

Motul 8100 xcess vs 6100?
Then liqui Moly has premium, high-tech and molygen?

Compare to castrol edge ?

The manual is ever so helpful (that's totttalllly not sarcasm) it tells you to check the sticker in the engine bay.

You have numerous topics here that deal with those oils.
If Motul, go Motul 5W30 X-Clean+, Motul X-Cess 5W40 Gen2, Motul X-Clean 5W40 Gen2
I am not big fan of Liqui Moly.
Castrol Edge? If 0W40 or 0W30, good. 5W40 is a OK.
All VW approved oils for those cars will work in that climate.
As for cleaning; that is the point of approvals. They are approved for VW standards. By buying approved oils you buy known quality. There are differences among those oils, but in reality, you are buying top-notch quality.

Do u remember off hand which of the above I mentioneded don't burn off easily.

VW is known to have one thing in the manual and another under the hood.
Ever so helpful manual says Castrol Edge Professional but VW source its oils now from Mobil 1. So, there is that.
I wonder if the government is cracking down more on what languange you use in the manual when recommending oils, I noticed in a new Hyundai manual that the only oils they had listed were 0w20 for a N/A model and 0w30 for the TGDI model of the car whereas Hyundai until relatively recently used to tell you to use anything from 5w30 to 20w-50 in turbo cars.
