I'll be interested to see how Edge fares in the TSI, particularly with an APR tune. What stage are you running, and are you using a 91 or 93 octane program?

I am definitely a member of the 5k club. I just can't buy in to 10k OCI's on a turbo. I have the MK6, TSI and hope the new engine design will make a difference. I absolutely love my Passat.

The itch on my brain for the past year has been......How would Rotella T6 fair in this engine?

I'm using the 91 programme, but have the stock, 93 and 100 to select from as well. APR has the best programming, by far.

I won't have a ton of miles on the oil, but 4-5 months use.

I've got the same program selections on my FSI. I run the 93 program on my stage 2 set-up. Let's just say it tends to surprise more than a few who underestimate the capabilities of a 5-door hatch...

FSI engines have typically killed their oil by 5k miles

Also you need to use a higher quality oil. I have been using Lubro-Moly in mine but have been considering a switch to Amsoil.

(Saaber, I wouldn't mind your input on amsoil in the 2.0t)

Sorry to bump an old thread. Just found this via a search. I have a 2008 GTI, and I get fairly regular oil analysis done. 5000 miles seems to be conservative for me. Every oil analysis I have done has shown the oil to be in great shape with plenty of additive left. Castol Syntec 5w40. I do get some fuel dilution but it has never caused any adverse wear to occur.

About the cam follower. I knew about that issue in advance and have been replacing my cam follower once a year. It's a 50 dollar part and it's pretty easy to change. So far the car is been running like a champ with 60k miles on it, and Revo stage 1 software. Engine wear is below normal according to UOA
