On my daughter's '99 Volvo S70 non-turbo, thought rattle coming from serpentine belt area was the belt tensioner, so replaced tensioner and belt. Rattle still there. My independent mechanic did the screwdriver to the ear trick and said it was the power steering pump, but he'd never heard one do that before. My daughter commutes to college five days a week, so I don't want her stranded. Found a PS pump on 2000 S70 at friend's salvage yard, but it appears the pulley may be larger than on the '99. Can anyone verify this and tell me how hard it would be to change out the pulleys if so.
Thanks.

Last PS pump I did I used the AutoZone loan-a-tool puller to swap the pressed-on pulleys-but that was on a GM truck (Suburban)-might be worth a trip to AZ, try pulling the one off the scrapyard pump to see if it will work on it.

Good idea bustednutz. Just got an email back from Chris Delano at IPDusa and indeed the two models use the same pump. The 2000 model has a larger pulley and, in turn, a longer belt. I'll just swap the pulleys and be good to go. Thanks all.
BTW, IPDusa will get my business when I need to order for my daughter's S70

Ive spent a good chuck of money with them ordering stuff. Always had great service. Tasca Volvo in Rhode Island also sells OEM parts online for cost +10.
