I’m currently also doing testing on it in a ls lq4. Will sample the second oci then I’ll run SS and sample the second time as well just for curiosity on how they’ll differ in this engine.

You’re welcome tho.
Is SS around the same price? Just curious

What year is it? Because if it calls for 0w20 it’s more than likely a LT motor which gm started in 2014. I haven’t heard of a LS calling for 0w20.

Does the Higher the Oxidation Value mean there are more Esters? Is the Oxidation Value something we should look at 1st in a VOA?
To my knowledge yes. And oxidation value is important to know regardless of the number to help be a key indicator in a uoa from the oil breaking down and oxidation thickening.

Can I ask what is the idea behind a 20 grade in a work truck? I take it from OP's comments that is the grade spec'd for that engine class?
Yes it is. Code J in the pick up truck are the L86 6.2 ecotec engine which is a LT platform engine. Not an LS. Everything about that engine is completely different from a LS platform. They are also spec to run a 0w20 viscosity.

Thank you for the explanation. I've not kept up with GM's oil requirements but I know they obviously favor MPG.
