Vista Windows Mail Problem ?

Got a Dell Dimension 520 earlier this spring with Vista Premium and Windows Mail. Some incoming email wont delete and one email in my outbox would not Send and it will NOT delete, because of this undeletable out box email I cannot send any other email out. Dell's online advice doesnot work and "microsoft communities" offers little help and I am not alone with this Windows Mail problem in "microsoft communities", lots of people with Vista email problems, any ideas?

No problems with Vista at all. I honestly wouldn't use "windows mail" or "outlook" or any other MS mail program, so I'm not much help. But what I would do is just use Thunderbird Mail. Problem solved.

I had this problem awhile back. Make sure you have all the latest updates and patches on Windows Vista. You can find a lot of info on this on Microsoft's community forums. It is a well known problem and I can't tell you how I fixed it as I tried many different things out of desperation. And like it's been suggested, there are other email programs that you can use. I wish I could be of more help.

thanks cp, I have vista downloading all latest downloads etc., some say MacAfee is problem, sometimes marking emails as read or unread will help delete them, not always. One guy on "communitees" said these glitches have happened on MS operating systems in past and Microsoft will dog it a long time before patching them. Frustrating.

I do have other email programs loaded in my computer that work but I expect my new product to work and I believe it is up to Dell or MS to make it right, I believe they are failing Vista owners IMO.

but you arent someone who purchased windows vista you are just their latest beta tester who paid them for the privilege.

Just switch to a 3rd party program like mozilla thunderbird.

I haven't switched yet and don't know if I will, but now a Mac can also run Windows software. There is no longer reason to hold back just because you need some software that is Windows only. Mac prices are comparable to brand name Windows machines too.

My understanding about Mac is that there are far less complications and glitches, I am stuck with this machine for a while but will do more homework with an open mind next time around when shopping for the next computer, thanks,

Actually you can update to Microsoft Live Mail which is supposed to be superior to Microsoft Mail and have better security.

Being able to run Windows XP on an Intel Mac is a plus-in effect you have two computers in one. And from a practical point of view the Mac is probably safer because so little in the way of viruses, Trojan Horse programs, bot programs, worms, and adware and spyware have been writen for the Mac OS X operating system.

I don't think today that Mac OS X is really safer than Windows Vista. And I don't think Mac OS X applications are really safer than Windows Vista applications. But the Mac is less of a target and simply has not been targeted.

I have concerns personally about the future of Mac OS X but I have already discussed those concerns.

I didn't see where you posted a resolution to your email issue, so if it's still an issue check out this article in PC World. This gives a how to on removing "ghost messages" that gum up the works in Windows Mail.

I think the above advice on looking for another email client is spot on especially if you're using POP3 email.

I just finished installing ThunderBird Email, working great, I put in newest version, only draw back was this TB2 did not allow proper importing of Windows Mail inbox, out box and contacts from Vista, got it done circunavigating about in converting windows contact lists to text files and sending these addresses in as attachents to TB mail, clicking on them so they show up in TB address book, then add them and delete attachment email, got it done, worked round about manually. Had it with Windows Mail. I like TB2, thanks all. Cyprs
