problem with Outlook Express

I cannot receive incoming mail on outlook express, the last messages I did receive were repeated several times each.
I get Error message, Error# 0x800C0133

Microsoft have been unable to help me, unless I pay $99 for premium Tech Support.

Any Ideas?

Would an OE alternative alleviate the problem?

I can still receive Email messages on my Ipad.

So this is a new problem? It used to work, but not now?

I left OE years ago for Thunderbird, but it's no longer as simple as it used to be. You might like to try it though.

Not that this would fix your immediate problem, but I would suggest ditching Outlook Express for Windows Mail (which itself replaced Live Mail, which is what replaced OE). Outlook Express is terribly outdated compared to newer email clients. Windows Mail is the latest built-in Windows email client, and it works great.

Thank you, but no luck.
I will try replacing OE 6 with a later version, then perhaps try another system altogether.

I'm running Windows XP home edition, if tht makes any difference.

Assume you are running XP.

Are you an email pack rat? First thing I would try is cleaning up and deleting any unnecessary emails. With Outlook or Outlook Express more is not better and you may end up loosing them all and recovery could prove difficult at best.

Highly recommend that you switch to Thunderbird.

I have tried more email programs than you can shake a stick at and found that Thunderbird is head and shoulders above them. It is free too.

Agreed. I was a bit bummed when Microsoft got rid of OE in Vista/7. The Windows Live alternative seemed clunky and more limited in functionality in some ways as far as auto processing rules were concerned, so I tried Thunderbird, and it works well. It also offers reasonable integration with Google Calendar via an add-on or two.

Have you attempted to simple uninstall then reinstall the software?

To date:
All messages have been moved to a Temp folder.
User name is changed.
I have switched to Thunderbird.

I still do not receive messages (but I can send)
