Viscosity vs. Temp

The thick oil is cooler because more heat is staying in the engine. Thinner oil gets hotter because it flows more volume, and does a better job of taking heat out of the engine.

In this particular case, reduction in friction has nothing to do with his oil temps. His problem is blow-by due to ring flutter. For example, the Sequence IIIF test used a ring gapping strategy to increase blow-by and thus increase the stress put on the test oil. Some of you guys focus on viscosity with out any comprehension on what processess are taking place in these engines.

What is the difference in kinematic viscosity at 140C? If the lower oil temp is not a result of reduced friction and the engine is producing the same power levels with either viscosity; then it may not be rejecting the heat in the engine oil. I did not take any data on coolant temp nor any instrumented HP readings.
