VIRGIN ST 16 CUT OEPN

OH NO! FIBER END CAPS!!!!!! RUN AWAY! Lol 😂 Fram and Champ Labs are both owned by first brands. I’m sure they’re stream lining the products in some way or another. I’d just spend the extra cents and get the Extra Guard for the better stats and silicone adbv

I don't get the new MP series supertech filters they're more expensive than a Fram orange can but provide no extra benefit,

All I was getting at is I’ve saw Purolator a with tears that most would think would hold up good. I’d be happy if someone ran this exact filter for say 3-4K and it looked good.
A couple of OCI's back I ran an ST in the Corolla it did just fine I cut it but I didn't post it. It seemed just fine. I did not run an Oil analysis on it either. The only thing I was Leary about was the 30 Micron rating.

Johnny was that a WIX made white can?

So, it was a blue can? It probably was fram/first whatever it’s called me made. Thanks for info Johnny

Filters cans are undersized to start. That looks assembled well, but this p/n does not have enough media area
for Winter or long oci use. Also no silicon rubber ADBV.

I would not buy that unless it was targeted at a Kohler or Briggs or Kawi lawn tractor.

Cheaper version of filters sold to shops and chains. Not as widely available as their orange cans.
Are they still making the defense filters or did First Brands cut those along with the Fram Pro Synthetic line focusing of just the Fram Core line of filters for jobbers.

It looks like the Service Champ Fram/Champ clones I see the local quick lubes install(if they haven’t switched over to Premium Guard/Ecogard).

I used to have a mail order catalog that sold them. They haven’t sold them for a few years now and I haven’t seen anyone else sell them either. I don’t think they were anything to brag about.

Wow, when the heck did they cheapen this filter? This one is a far cry from the one I had on my Eagle...

Filter was bought April '21
Those metal end caps do nothing but add waste to the landfill and make filters hard(er) to recycle.
Then you have the oversize center core on the E core that takes away from pleat depth and room from the filter media.
but, yeah, I do not like the looks of the media or pleat count on the "Fram" version either

Oh well, then don’t buy any ST filter. I take my old filters and burn them out, than take the scrap to the metals place near me.

Looks like a typical jobber filter, probably fine up to 5000 miles. Not saying these are bad but personally I prefer to pay a little more than $3. If I was broke and driving a beater, this would probably be my go-to filter. Is this the same as the standard Supertech filter? I recall seeing metal end caps on a recent supertech filter cut & post. Hmmm...
