I have for your amusement a Virgin Purolator Tech TL10241 oil filter dissection. Came in a lot I picked up for cheap and was the worse for wear in terms of handling before it got to me. Made in China and seems like a decent construction jobber filter. Had 55 pleats and my math measurements came out to about 87" square of filter media.

It has some Premium Guard appearance to it. Even the date code almost resembles the same style for China "Leak Tested" stamp. Holes instead of louvers, excellent pleat spacing. Basically, I'd almost wager it being from the same manufacturing facility. This one looks great! Thought this one or similar part numbers were like $2 off Amazon. I'd run it for <5k & see how it ticked. Thanks for sharing this filter.

I can see some similarities but I stop short calling it a PG product. I bought a 12 pack of these at $2.08 shipped per unit hoping to get a boxed case lot but they all got thrown in a box individually. The other 11ea are fine but this one looked like it got dropped a couple of times but the seller has already refunded me for it. 99% of the reasoning of me buying them is that I knew they were China made as I would not have gotten the same USA made Purolator Tech filter that are hot garbage a lot of times.

Looks very good. I have a couple of the Purolator US made TL14610, recently installed one on a neighbor's Civic. That after watching couple WCW c&p of US made TL. They looked quite good, and for price, worth a try for standard interval.

I'd say while topic "labeled" Purolator, truly an M&H/Mann filter. Possibly made in same factory as some China made Mann filters now. Personally, have a difficult time believing M&H has farmed Purolator labeled filters to PGI. And topic uses stamped spring, not a coil like PGI.

Thanks for c&p..

Yeah, seems like there's an on-going montra that any filter that "looks good" is suddenly PG made filter, lol.
