If that's directly from a jug, that's BAD.

I know Pb, Si, and Na can all be additives in oil - but M1 'usually' doesn't have them, which leads me to believe this is 'filthy' virgin oil - hopefully, you have a good filter!

I don't think 12ppm anything to be worried about. Mobil 1 VOA's are usually very clean.

i'm sorry but its not.

I took it directly from what was left of the 5liters left in my trunk.

In about 2000 kms, I'll do my oil change and send the UOA sample at the lab.

For the TBN, I already sent an email to know why I dont have it. They will send it to me ASAP.

I'm kinda disappointed about the result either.

Could it be all the Mobil 1 5w30 in wal-mart that is like that? I mean, 1 ppm of everything in VOA, I saw it a lot in here but 12 in Pb?

For the rest, I dont know.

Could it be because it is whats left from a 5liters since last october? I was never in any engine though.

Ok, which is it?

Mola,

I took those two quotes to mean the same thing. How else would one write a single sentence that says the VOA you performed is the exact oil (not a different batch or even a different jug) that is currently in your car?

okay maybe its my english that is not very good so for second try:

THIS is the results of a Virgin Oil Analysis of a sample of Mobil 1 5w30 that I took from what is left of my 5L jug.

So far so good, right?

NEXT, What I meant to say is that THIS sample is new, no used so its not coming from any engine.

BUT I use this oil (not the sample) in my engine right now.

In 2000 kms, I'll have a UOA for you guys with the oil coming from the same 5l. jug.

I can try it in french if you want.

Thanks Spykem.

I hope so. I asked the manager about that. What I just did this morning is sent another VOA sample at the lab from the other 5liters jug that wasn't opened yet. We'll see

The lab is in montreal its called:

Corporation d'entretien predictif (in french unfortunately)
Tribologik.

OK, thanks for the clarification.

English is fine.

I think the lead level is the concern. I suspect lab cotamination is the most likely prospect.

too easy to contaminate an open jug of MO in an open uncontrolled environment.

buy and send an unopened qt in to the lab.

i read VOAs with a grain of salt. where did your sodium come from, excuse the pun?

Surely from winter season here in montreal. A lot lot lot of salts on the road like crazy so maybe some from there.. Well I think.. I would thought of calcium but I cant tell...sorry

well, I just received some news about the TBN and from a VOA, the lab dont do it except if I pay 10$ more because the VOA is free when I send a sample of Used oil for analysis. anyways...

I received the new results from a new one:

Fe 1
Cu 1
Pb 5
Mo 81
Si 3
Mg 12
B 81
Na 8
Ca 2319
P 702
Zn 759

and the rest is the same except TAN that I dont have any news.
