Video- The real real reason Tesla developed the Cybertruck

Did I say I was a fan of the CT? Did you happen to notice the name of this forum section? Just checkin'...
That is one thing I never understood, they have a separate site for RV's but put a sub section in for these things. Huge mistake IMO, I dont think the owner of the site considered it would be populated with rabid Tesla cult members. Go to a Tesla forum and look for a ICE engine sub forum.

We also have food, firearms, home improvement and even dumb ol' computers. I hate computers...

Guess what? I rarely, if ever, venture in those sections unless it is by accident.
I might have to check out the Tesla link you posted. Thanks in advance.

I will not go in details into what makes a vehicle good looking and what doesn't. It's like the human body - the good looking stuff has been established a while back, and what works and what doesn't are within even a kid's grasp. As the word goes - "I don't know what the definition is, but I will surely recognize it when I see it".

An artist told me what makes something attractive is probably about 60% biological (in human would be health, reproductive, ability to secure resource, ability to protect family from harm, good at caring for the family, etc), 30% worship of the upper elite (rich people having them, popular people like celebrities endorse them, etc), and the last 5-10% is from personal experience (you are a chef and you are in awe of the craftsmanship of a good knife, you are a martial artist and you are in awe of the craftsmanship of a katana, you raise horses and you are in awe of a good horse, you are a body builder and you have a thing for muscle chicks, etc).

CT is a quirky design that solves a lot of problems, but it is not a jack of all trade vehicle (no vehicle is), and it certainly is expensive enough that makes it not the best solution for all problems. You either love it or not, I haven't seen any in between.

Model S for me...more now than ever.

Hey, the Tesla Model S Plaid can do 0-60 in under 2 seconds while getting 3mi/kwh+ in normal driving. How awesome is that!? I was trying to explain this to a coworker yesterday... EVs are awesome because you can have both performance and efficiency, while on an ICE vehicle these two items are mostly exclusive. You can either get a Nissan Versa that gets 40MPG but goes 0-60 in eventually, or a Dodge Charger Hellcat that gets single digit fuel economy, but with an EV you can enjoy both at once!

Yup and free super charging that can get you 200 miles in 15 minutes...that's even good for long distance outside of the heavy holiday travel days

Honestly if I had $100K to spend on a car it would be tough to pick between the Sierra EV Denali which is my dream truck and the Model S Plaid or X Plaid especially with that free Supercharging offer!

I saw that Denali and it was awesome. I'm right with you..
You can't beat free charging though 👌

I know I just LOVE the look. But, the Model S/X Plaids are so much faster and free roadtrips for life can't be beat! Assuming you can afford the tires to go on road trips, I bet both the S/X Plaids the Sierra EV Denali have $$$$ pricey tires.

I'll buy the car but I'm cheap on tires...😆 I'd baby it most of the time...

Free charging is a nice perk, but only if you actually need it. I Supercharged our '18 Model 3 Mid Range if I were driving over maybe 180 miles, or more, in a day, but so far I only charged the M3P once as a test for 5 minutes or so.

As always, it just depends on your use case.
Here's the beautiful Liquid Silver...

Seeing the video (possibly propaganda), I concluded that one needs to use a CT for a few months to decide if it is a loser or a winner.

CT in numerous categories is so different than any other utility vehicle ever made. Maybe the categories will shape the future for utility vehicles, maybe the categories will go the route of a rotary engine (nice idea but not really a match for mass market).

CT did something no other vehicle has done in a long time, spark a lot of discussion. As GM pointed out nearly 20 years ago, young people in a MACRO basis are not into vehicles. Maybe a CT sparks interest in young people, who knows.

Think about it, everyone on this forum eats, lives somewhere and has a computer but there is nothing more divisive than the EV.

Why is that? If one is not interested in EVs, why would one waste their time in an EV section?
An EV is just another vehicle, right? Why the hate? Personally I could care less what others drive.

And your 1st post stated this was an oil forum, right? No offense, just trying to follow your line of thought.

I have no hatred towards EV vehicles, GM, Hyundia/Kia, VW, BMW, MB, BYD and a few more are making some by all accounts decent cars, I even have a fair amount of stock in BYD cars and BYD batteries. The 4000+ pound elephant in the room is a problem,

Elon is certainly controversial. No question, and each to his/her own.
My take is, Musk is 1 man. I have said before a key reason we purchased our 1st Tesla was in support of the Fremont work force. GM failed, NUMMI failed, both times leaving thousands of workers stranded. Today over 25K people are gainfully employed at Tesla Fremont (NUMMI had 6K employees at it's peak) and manufacture more cars than any American car factory.

I support that. Again, each to his/her own.

I'm thinking about it, and no matter which way it goes I end up at:

"there's nothing more divisive than a guy who would raise hell for EVs being discussed in the EV section of a forum".
EV's, in themselves, are not divisive at all - they work for their owners, or they don't - they shouldn't be forced on people who don't need them and they shouldn't be taken away from the people who need them, and there's little beyond that.

Your righteous anger should have been mod-nipped from the very beginning. It's an EV section in a forum, and EVs are being discussed. Simple as that.

If you have a problem with that - open a separate thread about it and put your arguments. I would argue that EVs still use most of the fluids that ICE vehicles use, minus the engine oil. They use coolant (plenty of it), transmission fluid, brake fluid and whatnot.

To be fair this is the EV section of the site which someone felt should exist here.
To be fair, it was the members of this site that asked for it.

Those same members asked for tools, home improvement, and other sections.

The site owner added all of them in response to requests from the membership here.
