Was watching a 007 movie from Amazon Prime last night. I have FIOS at 60 Mbs up/down. Every time it went into buffering on the TV, I clicked SpeedTest on my smart phone and had 40 Mbs to 50 Mbs down and more up.

No conclusion, but I am thinking the issue is the streaming capabilities of the TV. So I will connect a Roku I have.

Other ideas?

After I got a top of the line Roku my 4K TV will stream absolutely everything with no problems, and I only have 20 mbs service.

Is your TV connected via Wireless or an Ethernet cable? Your Router/Access Point might have be able to prioritize traffic if you have a lot of wireless devices connected. If your wireless you might see if you can connect a wired cable to see if there is any difference.

Also check your TV for any updates.

Does Amazon Video stream fine on your PC? If so, your TV is likely to blame.

If you have Roku, it's definitely worth giving it a try.

Some good troubleshooting ideas have been stated ...will a stream to a PC also buffer?

Newer Routers have ability to prioritize specified traffic types. The router itself if not optimized can be part of the problem also also other chatty devices on the network can distract the router. If WIFI are you on a crowded channel? get a surveying software and ensure your WIFI is not getting channel interference from a neighbor.

I setup the Roku and the picture looks better and have not had any buffering issues so far. Also the Smart TV part of the TV would get hung every so often and would need to have the TV unplugged and plugged back in to solve the issue. Unsure what that was about.

Not all TVs are as smart as they seem. Roku seems to be the standard and will stream better than any built in streaming software. Some TVs have a Roku streaming engine built in, but not sure if they are as good as the stand alone Roku boxes. Roku makes 3 or 4 different boxes.

Streaming issues were cleared up on both my brother's and my 4K high bit rate TVs after buying a Roku box. They will stream anything out there, zero issues with a good Roku box.
