Vice-Prez. Debate Is On...

Cheney is raking Edwards.

I wish I could have a dollar for everytime Edwards has blinked, I could pay off my mortgage.

It's very interesting. Cheney is slick, but he's twisting the facts somewhat.......Edwards will be the sure winner...and I'm impartial.

I think Cheney did well. I think Edwards took the first 30% and then most of it was even. Cheney had a strong finish I thought. Edwards came off arrogant IMO. I also thought he lacked definitive details in how he would fix things. A lot of talk. Cheney is articulate and does a much better job of communicating then W does.

Buster, I agree. W. couldn't talk his way out of a barn... BUT, I'd rather have a leader that could walk the walk instead of talk the talk. Edwards is a lawyer. He can talk as well as Wild Willy. Very smooth, but are, well, TRIAL LAWYERS.

Edwards is an empty shirt and has displayed a complete lack of understanding the issues and the consequences of his thoughts to address the issues. Edwards’s responses, for the most part, appeared to be geared to appeal to those people who also do not understand the issues. How can anyone vote for these guys when their only consistent answer is that we care more and have a better plan? What plan and who is going to pay for it?

With that being said, I am extremely upset about our choices for president. One is a man who can barely string enough words together to form a sentence, and the other choice is a man who is a complete stranger to the truth and has a totally undistinguished twenty year career in congress.

The debate was about what I expected. Cheney put the Kerry record back into play, which strangely, the first moderator Jim Liberaler didn't think was important. Edwards tried to defend Kerry, but who needs that job? In the circumstances, Edwards did very well. Edwards is in the running for 2008 (assuming Bush wins in November). But, Hillary will crush him to dust.

Debate #2 similar to #1 - very few votes changed. Kerry is on the defensive (global test, nukes to Iran, no new bunker busting bombs, undercut Chinese influence in North Korea, ...) and needs to do very well on Friday to keep the race close.

Bush holds all the cards still, it's his to lose.

The Vice President CRUSHED Edwards!! I can't believe how anybody could see it any other way. Cheney was so confident and self assured that it put Edwards TOTALLY on the defensive. Every time Edwards tried to score with pointed insults at Cheney, he was slammed back on his butt! Edwards almost seemed childish compared to the much more mature and well speaking Vice President. Now watch the liberal press paint it as Edwards winning....or at the most they will call it a tie!

Refreshing to see a Republican that can articulate his rotten position.

Don't trust either one. Edwards says the right thing but is he for real ?

Shame Cheney isn't the CIC or is he ?

Neither one had the Guts to state that GAY marriage is against Gods Will regardless of Party.

Soddom and Gommorah instituted Gay Marriage and where are they today ?????

Flame on.

Is there any question?

They matched up the wrong candidates.

Cheney should have debated Kerry, he probably would have won, certainly would have done much better than Bush did.

Edwards would still have beaten Bush.

How is he twisting the facts?
Doug, to answer your question: When I wrote this, Cheney had just described Afganistan as a new democracy and painted a rosy picture of events there. In reality the country is still very dangerous, with the warlords in control in much of the rural areas.

This is political spin, and all canidates do it. It just hit me the wrong way at the time.

Here's an idea; why not hook the canidates up to an on-screen lie detector at these debates? Wouldn't that be a show?

Why should they impose their religious views on others? I thought freedom of religion was a basis of this country?

I was ready to buy a used car from Edwards by the end of the debate, but I'd never vote for the guy. Even if he had a plaid jacket on.

I think it's funny that Edwards kept saying "More of the same" when he's holding to the same party mantra of "more of the same" himself.

I'll stick to trusting him with used cars, but that's it.

What view ? Both the Old Testament and Jesus teachings are quite clear on the issue and Gwen Ifel(sp) asked specifically about the national response to marriages for those that practice that lifestyle.

I can't see how rejecting "GAY" marriage is a forcing a national religion.

I do understand how some are threatened by any stand that uses scripture as a guide to morality.

Obeying Yahweh God is not religion its a Wise lifestyle.

Terry, not long ago, we could go up to our neighbors and friends with the bible in hand and show them where they are going wrong. Not in harshness, but in love that they need to get on the right track. Those days are pretty much over, unless you attend a church that holds true to those kind of open ways of thinking. We're too into ourselves and narcissistic.

2Tim 4: has a great verse about these times: " 3 For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to right teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever they want to hear. 4 They will reject the truth and follow strange myths."

That really sums up what's going on out there...too many people surround themselves with others in the same situation so they don't have to change to do right things, but rather continue to "validate" themselves by wrong teachers and their wrong teachings.

Gay marriage is a myth. But yet, many will follow it and consider it "good". Sadly, there's a direct correllation here... Any society that has embraced homosexuality has been destroyed and wiped clean from the map.

We can't expect everyone to agree with everthing, especially our religious veiws, or lack thereof.
Also in the Bible is a bit or two about not judging others.
