Very Cold In Russia

Yeah, Russia and much of Europe got whacked last winter - it seems the same pattern is here.
To my delight, Chicago winter was very mild last year, and the same this one. First time no snow yet on this date.

I think you are wrong. -50C is -68F. (either way, that is cold).

Eddie was correct, -50C = -58F
 
My Grandfather was from southern Siberia, north of Novosibirsk. He would tell me interesting stories of how cold it was and how high the snow was.

One of which was when someone died during the winter they had to store them in the barn until the ground thawed in the spring so they could bury them.
