Versa 08 CVT slipping Additive available?

Clean or change the pan strainer, change the governor filter from time to time. The 2016 versa, We have over 130k on our fleet car, 90% of the jatco's I put hands on had the governor filter never changed breathing new life after replacing it. As for the filter in the pan, it's just a very fine screen, you can use brake parts cleaner or mineral spirits to clean it, don't forget your magnets.

The 08 Versa uses a Jatco JF009e / RE0F08A/B CVT (aka CVT1).

The cartridge filter is glued into an aluminum housing that is bolted into the transmission beside the valve body. You can access it by removing the transmission pan.

I would suggest trying a heavier fluid over the spec of NS-2 (~7.0). Valvoline is quite thin (5.4 - 5.9), so maybe try Castrol (7.1) or Amsoil (7.3).

I tried to save a RE0F08B CVT by fluid & filter changes but the lack of maintenance from previous owners was too much for it. It seems that once the belt is 'worn out' there is very little you can do to keep it from slipping / shredding.
