Please tell me why I shouldn't use Valvoine Daily oil. I just bought a 2018 Caravan and in manual it states change oil on Severe Duty at 3k and regular oil as well as Synthetic can be used but not extended. Looked at specs and build of 3.6 Pentastar which claimed conventional oil with max of 8k between changes is what it is designed for. Always a Valvoline durablend fan but can't find it in 5 quart jugs so looked at this oil spec sheet and it is made from a blend. I will be changing 5k or once a year. Some may call it severe
I just moved out of town but still go often so lots stop signs and lights . Last vehicle specs were Dexos so PP which was good but numerous leaks developed which never happened with Valvoline. Don't run OLM cause as a retired mechanic seen lots of sludge and dirty engines.

No reason. I have used the old Valvoline conventional in my vehicles with good success. Not so sure your driving isconsidered severe, but I see no issue with your oil choice.

Valvoline conventional is solid. I never use it, though, since I can buy maxlife for the same price.

Daily Protection in the thinner grades (5W20, 5W30) is a synthetic blend. I used it in my work Transit 3.7, in the 5W20 weight, for several 5K OCIs, without any issues or consumption-and I can GUARANTEE you I was a whole lot harder on it than you will be in your minivan!

Valvoline has always been a good oil in all flavors. In my opinion, Durablend will probably go away. Valvoline's Daily Protection (white bottle) is indeed a blend. Is Valvoline doing this to compete directly with Castrol and Motorcraft? I wouldn't be a bit surprised.

Maxlife is essentially identical to Durablend except it has more seal conditioners. Just use Maxlife if you want.

A whole lot of entry level "conventionals" are now blends to keep up with the specs. I doubt Valvoline conventional has as much synthetic base as Maxlife or Durablend.

Not so sure about that. Valvoline 5w30 conventional has a VI of 168 with a 0.02 lower density/0.1 greater KV100 while ML 5w30 has a VI of 161.

Valvoline makes good oil. I am not surprised it is a synthetic blend that they market as a conventional oil.

Nowadays they have to try harder, since the company recently went public Valvoline stock has tanked and stayed low, and is now an F rated stock.

By the way Valvoline now has a rebate promotion, $5 off 5 quarts of Daily Protection oil, which makes it an even better deal.

Your definition of tanked is misleading. The stock is off 10% from its highs. That is not tanked.

Valvoline has jacked up the price just like some of the other big boys. But guess what keep your eye out for sales because even though Valvoline is good oil you can get other good full synthetics oils for less money.

There is nothing wrong with Valvoline conventional.

All SN+ conventional is synthetic blend because the standards have gotten more stringent.

Any straight conventional as long as it has the star burst can go 5k OCI. Even the Blackstone engineers state on theri FAQ that conventional is what most of them use since it works just as well. Use it and sleep well.

I agree. Valvoline is typically on sale for the same price as Castrol, Mobil 1, and Pennzoil at Walmart. Usually $22 plus change for any of those Advanced full synthetic oils on sale aka Pennzoil Castrol Mobil 1 or Valvoline. Only the "higher" level ones are $25-$27 plus on sale there.

Lowest current price at my Walmart is $24 dollars and change and $25 and change for Maxlife full synthetic.
