Here's a report from my 2006 Lincoln Mark Lt with 5.4L 3 valve engine. Lots of winter driving and short trips. Total miles on vehicle at change was 70K. I shortened the run due to a similar vehicle and mine both were getting light brown condensation under the oil cap which caused concerns about sludging.

Not bad considering the SynPower was sitting in the crankcase all winter with short trips. Looks like you had no long trips to get the oil up to operating temps and burn off of any fuel, condensation or impurities in the oil.

BTW..What oil did you use as your current fill since you drained the SynPower out?

Seems as though your concerns were unfounded. I'm no fan of Valvoline, and this is somewhat of a weak TBN, but you could've stretched 6-7k out of it. The wear metals look OK IMO.

Thanks for the UOA.

To save time, $$$ and resources....move on to 5,000 to 6,000 OCI's.

The one thing I can say about Valvoline SynPower is that it does clean an engine.

But I'm not a big fan of Valvoline since their add pack does not include any Moly to speak of and loads of sodium. I've used it in the past but only with a good dose of Tuff Oil with the good dose of Moly in the additive.

I currently have Castrol Syntec 5W20 in it for this run. I plan on going 5k miles or until November/December time frame. Then I will be using Amsoil 0W20. I don't drive this truck very often. I run an old '96 Tacoma trying to get it to the 200k mile mark.
