Valvoline Restore & Protect 0W-20 cannot find VOA and UOA

With VRP as a bail out option, it has made me wonder about just running Kirkland signature, buying when on sale, and then if/when you start to notice oil burning, then just run VRP at the first sign of it and knock it out.
Keep a close eye on varnish and oil consumption. If you don’t get either keep on trucking with Kirkland. If your vehicle is easy on oil it’s more than enough.

I'm thinking about it. My truck has 225k on conventional. So I'm wondering if it made it this far on that, then what benefit am I getting from anything more. Still going to do 4 changes with VRP before I decide what direction to take (or until the varnish on the baffle plate is gone and the oil filter is clean). I don't think I burn any oil at this point, but I sure got some decent carbon in the filter after just 2000 miles.

I found an open jug with about 3 qt of M1 0W20 EP from my last oil change and almost changed my mind to use VRP at my next oil change since that M1 is already opened, but I'll keep it for next year and run the VRP 0W20 I just bought in the winter for 4K OCI.

When I shake the unopened VRP 0W20 jug, the viscosity feels like water.

I'll try to do VOA and UOA. I've used several years ago Blackstone Lab for a couple of times, but recently I read on here that they don't show that precise results.
What other labs would you recommend for analysis?
I think this person @4WD mentioned another more credible lab in another thread.

Oil Analyzers. Blackstone not worth it.

Ok, I see that Oil Analyzers is in Superior Wisconsin, the home of Amzoil. That doesn’t mean anything per se. I just want to know why Blackstone is not as good of an oil lab.

BTW, I grew up in northern Minnesota, and my uncle was a good friend to Babe Amatusio. As in Amzoil.

I don’t claim any special knowledge. No doubt, Amzoil is an excellent product.

Poor quality UOAs. They're only worth as much as the data on them are good. Garbage in, garbage out. They don't use GC for their fuel dilution, and they don't give you oxidation.

Cool story. Only really heard good things about Amsoil.

Hi everyone,

Got on the VRP 0W20 bandwagon by recommendation of a few people here for a Camry engine at 165K miles that burns about 1 qt of M1 EP 0W20.
I cannot find any VOA on the forum, except a video screenshot from youtube and only a couple of UOA that are done either at 2500 or 3500 miles.
I was planning to run this oil through the winter at 5K OCI, but if I need to change it earlier, I'll probably wait until after the winter. I change my oil outdoors. But if that's the case I better get 5W30 for next spring/summer.

Still looking for any VRP 0W20 UOA at 5K OCI or VOA (not video screenshots), please?
Thank you.
If you didn't see mine, it was at 4k miles.

Thanks everyone!
Still going thought the info posted here about VRP.
I'm still 50/50 about this oil, regardless that I got VRP 0W20 jug.
Not sure yet if cleanliness or better lubrication is more important for me now. I don't want to sacrifice the latter one for the first one.

If I decide to use VRP, it will be for 4K OCI and I'll send oil for both VOA and UOA analysis.

I would consider the number of engines posted here with coked up rings compared to the engines that have “worn out.” It meets API specs for wear prevention and has a novel ability to clean piston rings. Seems clear to me. But it’s your car.

Thanks for the information.

1. Not sure if I have coked up or worn out rings.
2. Not sure if I want this oil for 4 OCI to find out if it works or not.
3. Not sure if it's normal or abnormal a 165K miles car to burn 1qt of 0W-20.
4. Not sure if varnish is bad for the engine. It comes mostly from mineral and synth blend oils and long OCI (haven't used either one).
5. If VRP cleans the engine, the varnish/residue either stays in the oil or on the filter, or both. Not sure if I like that.

.
Amatuzio………….Amsoil is good oil but I don’t know if Amzoil is.
