I was told by an industrial lead R&D oil chemist (Summit Industrial Lubrication "A Kluber Company") When I called to find a more advanced oil then the current one I was using of theirs. I told him I was using X oil and I added Liqui Moly MOS2 to the correct amount stated on the bottle to the amount used in our CAT pumps. The first thing out of his mouth was " I bet your having seal problems". I said how did you know that I was having seal issues? I had 6 seals in stock because they would start leaking bad between 8 months to a year. He said stop running that Moly as it is not refined and small enough and it degrades seals way way too fast. I asked what about Createc? He advised against using any additives. He said we use a clear moly and gave the name of that moly and we use it in proportions that work and it will not damage seals. I stopped using it and a couple of my pumps have lasted 6 years without a seal leak. Most pumps are flat worn out by the time a seal would leak. I still have 6 seals left. I then stopped using MOS2 and Createc and don't use any additives but HPL Engine Cleaner and some cocktailng ( which is also a bad idea, but I still do it with Valvoline Restore and Protect and adding a Qt+ of a 5w-40 oil to increase HTTS a bit. Once and IF Valvoline Restore and Protect comes 5W-40 I will quit doing that. Not many issues it seems with cars it looks like , but after seeing the damage done, I won't run it in my engines. I think a lead R&D Kluber chemist knows better then the German BMW club, Maybe???
