Valvoline Restore and Protect in a 3800 v6?

Tightening emissions requirements, I believe.
Pretty sure you're correct. Also marketing because all the cool kids in that segment had 4 valve DOHCs even though the 3800 was very competitive on performance and fuel economy.

With current direct injection systems, a 3800 would be as studly as the LT V8.

3800's dont need it, they are heaven's gift to the fine United States.
I thought the same thing LOL Guided my son into buying Beautiful Bonneville with a 3800. It was right off the Bonneville Ad " I thought about a Jag: Then I said WHY? and bought a Bonneville. Ran. drove, handled, held the road like a dream. 6 months later we had the only 3800 I ever say Locked-Up. And I was doing the oil changes. It was still a good buy. 250 for a local junkyard 3800 engine and a Buddy Shadtree Mech installed it for 200. LOL It still got him through college.
