Valvoline Restore and Protect 10W-40 Now Available in Australia

I had a look, it’s only API SP. Which is unusual for Australia, as every other 10W40 carries ACEA A3/B4 as well as the API spec.

Probably the easiest way to bring it to the market was just to make it SP only. That will do me, given that I never expected to see it here.

Now I need to read all those previous Restore & Protect threads.
Hmmmmm….maybe if I ask a stupid question in a new thread @kschachn will do all the searching for me?

<just a friendly joke kschy mate>

ACEA specs are no longer self-reporting, they have to pass the actual test sequences to claim the spec. There's a bunch of EU hoops and red tape to jump through now, plus the extra cost is not happening for a product launch literally on the other side of the globe.

Quick update on this, have been running 10W-40 R&P in the S80 T6 for just on 1,500km and so far the oil consumption is at zero – fill level has not changed on the dipstick. This is a very good start!

Also, the engine is absolutely noticeably quieter. Interesting stuff!

How much consumption would you have normally had at 1500km? The quieter engine is definite.

I sure wish I had your 10w-40 here. Since I have to use the 5w-30, my 5 cylinder Volvo is consuming a quart in 2000 miles vs a quart in 3500 on my previous oils.

It usually drank around 1L per 2500km, so at the 1500km mark it would usually be well below the full mark.
