I pulled a muscle in my back yesterday so my much anticipated oil change for this weekend was shot. I took the car to Valvoline near me and...

They used my oil and filter (Magnatec I paid $5 for at Walmart, and OEM)
They extracted the oil from the dip stick tube
I could stay in the vehicle
It took 20 min
They only charged $30

Pleasantly surprised.

wemay, heal up soon bud!
I am amazed by that price, I used to go to a Valvoline quick change near an old job and it was at least $70 a few years ago (without supplying oil and filter).
I like how quick they were and the customer service, the only things that got me were the price and having no option for a tire rotation. There was a Midas across the street that was a lot cheaper but also took a lot longer even just for oil, would usually go there and hang around a nearby bookstore while I was waiting.

Hope to hear you're feeling better soon!

The one here is advertising matching other's coupons to $19.99 and gets good yelp reviews. I need to get one done yesterday since going 5700 miles on Valvoline conventional in 3.5 months and no top up. I just need to figure out a place to take it to. Kind of like the phrase "analysis paralysis" because of all the options and pros/cons with each place. I live in a condo and it's winter here so want to take it somewhere.

I can't believe you had the nerve to post this???
What a pinko

Seriously take care of that back. I live 24/7 with mine for over 30 years. Unbearable at times...

Get better soon

That's crazy they extracted from the dipstick tube

I thought they had you drive over a big hole and they drain it from there.

They charged $30 for 20 minutes of labor only?
I say robbery, but hey, if you are pleased....
I say you got lucky with (partial) extraction vs. a stripped or damaged drain plug.
Heat and stretching for that back, then situps for a strong core to keep it aligned.

I'm surprised they let you bring your own oil. That's a good deal IMO. Last time I went to a VIOC I believe they drained it from the pan.

My thoughts exactly. My Valvoline oil change place costs more than the Toyota Dealer or the Hyundai Dealer.

I stopped messing with them when my Hyundai dealer does an oil change for $26 in 30 minutes using OEM everything.

They measure the dipstick to the siphon before sucking the used oil out to make sure it's at least as long. After pouring the jug of new oil back in, they show you the current level on the dipstick and give you back your empty 5qt jug you witnessed them using (if you want it). Yeah, its pretty thorough.

That's so strange. Just pull the drain plug.

Some cars have belly pans and other nonsense that makes siphoning common place.

Benz, Audi, etc.
