First I've seen it at Walmart. This is in West Lafayette, IN.

There is no Valvoline that I'm aware of that has any Ti.

To expand on my earlier post, I believe MST is "mid-SAPS technology" and HST is "high-SAPS technology".

Agreed. I've seen this Synpower MST 5w-40 at local walmarts since forever, but now that M1 0w-40 is available in jugs at such a good price, I don't see why anyone would go for this Synpower unless they specifically required something with lower SAPS/sulfated ash content for their application (DPF).

+1

I never saw Valvoline 5w40 MST at Wal Mart, only at NAPA. NAPA would usually sell it for $2 less than M1 0w40, so you could get an oil with European certifications for less.

However, Wal-Mart would sell M1 0w40 for less than anybody else would sell any Xw40 Euro oil

Piston pin bosses in high-output engines easily get that hot. They're not talking about bulk oil temperature in the pan.

It's a shame that other retailers can't be a bit more competitive with the oil pricing, I don't need WM matched, but closer. It's just such a hassle to go there, and I prefer the "look" (as silly as it is) of an auto parts store receipt in my records. ha. Not AZ's though, they fade.

Sometimes other retailers are competitive, but it will be with oil filters that I don't want nor want showing on the receipt. Otherwise, it's that 1 or 2 time a year sale of Mobil 1 or another fine product approved for my car that I have to snap up. Always keeping my eye out!

Great find on the Valvoline MST product!
