Was just @ Valvoline.com, it does not list Maxlife as a synthetic blend like it is at the stores. It only lists DuraBlend. Anyone know?

The new SN version of MaxLife HM, Red bottle does not list it as being a Synthetic Blend on the store shelves. They did take the Moly out of the new version and put something else, Organic, in the mix.

I really don't know how much synthetic oil is in the New Version but the older SM version had, I think, 30% synthetic and lots of Moly.

Maybe the bottle or Jug you saw was the Older, SM, version.

There was a post here a month or two ago about an e-mail someone sent to Valvoline about this subject. Valvoline's rep said that people were equating "synthetic" with "expensive" so they removed it from the label of their SN oils (and the web site), but it is still a blend.

That was me. I called their tech hotline and that is what they told me. could be a load of B S. but who knows. Something about how if people see synthetic on the label of Maxlife in any way it will decline their sales because people will associate it with "higher price" and the Maxlife is a huge money maker for them. Too bad they don't realize us Bitogers do not like it. If you ask me...is the dollar amount the price tag what speaks? As they say, money talks...something else walks.. ??? LOL

So, can this or another one be 'stickied' or something? It keeps getting asked. Google about this a a few BITOG threads mentioning it is revealed. Or...just use the search function here.

It is expensive. Not because it is a blend, it is just expensive now. Last time I got some at Walmart it was $13.50 for 5 quarts. Now I think it is almost $18. This fall I accumulated a 50+ qt stash of Synpower, all for under $2.50/qt (most $1.50) thanks to MIRs combined with sales at Oreillys. I now use Synpower and don't use Maxlife. I was looking to switch to synthetic anyway since the engine really didn't need the HM oil. Also keeps it simple because Synpower in the same weight can be used in both vehicles.

The new SN version of Maxlife is a 30% blend. This is from an email I have from Valvoline over a month ago, that I also reported in one of the numerous Valvoline threads here.

The new SN bottle also states its a blend on the back of the bottle in the fine print, just read the bottle (RTFL).

While they did reduce the amount of Moly in the new SN version there is still more Moly in it than most SN oils listed in the VOA section.

Repeated statements about them taking all the Moly out and it is no longer a blend are inaccurate and misleading to members that come here seeking accurate information.
