valuecraft filter cut open

I just picked up the "2808" version for my Hyundai. Except for paint color (white vs. blue for the old stock ST 2808 I have around - and both use an adhesive plastic film label sticker) it appears to be a stock, entry level Champion Labs-made filter, though the Valuecraft has the "leaf" spring style bypass valve, now. Good price. (I wonder how soon some naysayer will pick up on the name and derisively refer to these bargains as "Valuecrap"? You just know it has to happen.

All of the Champion Labs-made filter I've cut open seem to be of high quality. I hope this doesn't change in the future. If Walmart does away with the SuperTech line of filters, this just might be an alternative. Where are these sold, Advance Auto?

For me, it's sold at Autozone. I don't like any of the autozones except for the fact that there are two 24 hour ones by my house. Otherwise they have crappy service, no intelligence and zero courtesy.

It's been my plan for a while to use these if Walmart stops selling ST's. Also waiting for some ricer to tell me that I'm a cheap *** for buying the $2 filter (it's $2 for me in Chicago) and I should respect my car and put a high class FRAM filter in it.

They are on sale at Auto Zone and I picked up a bunch for Auto-RX treatment on 2 cars. Thanks for the pictures. Looks like the $1.50 per filter was well spent.

That filter # looks to be for Nissan's. The only pic I do not like is the last one with that "extra" glue all hanging out, looks like very poor quality control problems. Otherwise it's still WAY better than a Fram

if your on dial up it might take a bit to load.. i just grabbed one off the shelf, dont know what car its for. just like in my other thread, i didnt really do anything scientific, i let the pics do the talking. seems like its not too bad for a $1.50 filter. also, the dents in the end caps and bends on the bottom of the media are from my tailpipe cutter

i took about a dozen pics, and this is just a few. so if someone wants to see more of somethin, let me know.

I think I'd sooner see a solidified, insoluble glop of adhesive over-run than a neat and tidy gap allowing unfiltered oil to bypass the filtration medium right back into my engine. Sometimes neatness doesn't count...
