I bought a HF vacuum pump for A/C work. It came with a bottle of clear thin oil. Manual says use a LV vacuum pump oil and lists HFV-46 , I'm not familar with that spec. Should i change it after the first use for something better, or just leave what came with it in? No mention of a change interval in the manual.

Thanks.

I was under the impression that you have to change it after a few uses, that it loses its effectiveness after a while.

The oil that came with the HF pump will be fine. I normally change the oil after approximately 15 hours of runtime or if it begins to turn cloudy. You definitely want to change oil before you put it away for the season to mitigate corrosion from entrained moisture.

This Supercool vacuum pump oil is available from Advance Auto online with a 20% discount code and you can pick it up locally.

Thanks!!!

My Robinair vacuum pump owner's manual says to change the oil after every use and that is what I have done since I bought it new in 2006 and it still runs great. I also use Robinair pump oil in it.
