I used Mobil 1 15W-50 in my 1990 Dakota (V6) and 1995 Dakota (V8) work trucks hauling ammo to gun shows every weekend. Bed loaded to capacity and a full trailer...maybe 5000+ pounds total. Both trucks went over 150,000 miles with one U joint the only casualty....except for my BACK!!!

Before moving to a non spec heavier oil look for a "thick" oil within the spec grade. Castrol seems to trend to the thick side of 0w-20 for example.
I use 5W20 in my 16 Accord because I bought a ton of it for the 10 Civic. Spec say 0W20. There ain't no hard winter here. Maybe 25F. 5W will be just fine.

I used it once like 20-years ago or so in a 1987 Honda Accord (in summer or course). I actually got great mileage out of it driving long distance on a trip...

Me.
And with more additives than required.
Specced oil is basically an ACEA C2 oil with Noack under 10%, I use a thin MB 229.5 oil (also with noack under 10%)
I ran M1 15w50 in a Pontaic Fiero V6 back in the 80's and it ran great! Called for 5w30.
I know a guy who had a full size ford van with a triton v10 that only ran M1 15w50 he had 425,000 miles when he sold it.
I have run M1 FS 0w40 in my 2012 V6 Nissan Pathfinder and it ran fine. It seems the Nissan VQ40 DE V6 seems to like 40 weight oil there are many on Nissan forums that run a 40 when a 30 is specified. I recently talked to a guy that had 200K on his 4.0 Nissan Xtera running only Valvoline conventional 10W40.
