... and 15w40 in summer, 10w30 in winter with that many miles. Bearings are geting some clearance from wear. Should be quiet as can be

15w-40 in a Ford 4.6? What's the point of that besides making it sluggish and wasting gas.

Oh i bet on 0W-20 it would have gotten to a million kilometers with no problem

Yeah 0w20 has a way of preventing snapped camshafts. That is why I'm using it in the Highlander now, I've learned my lesson.

That's quite a feat, overcoming defective metallurgy or forming. What ever next?

And it's not fram! I'm two for two on new style TG2s - I've never seen a filter drain out so fast after removal. Switched to a mobil 1 filter and no more startup rattle. FWIW, the noise was the same with both Quaker State Advanced Durability 5w30 and Meijer house brand synthetic 5w20 with fram filters. last oil change was Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w20 and a Mobil 1 extended performance filter and now quiet as can be. After the Mobil 1 filter I am going back to motorcraft - FL820S for life.

My 2015 Ford F-150 with naturally aspirated V6 calls for 5W-20 synthetic blend or synthetic. I used full synthetic Mobil 1 5W-20 for a while and it just seemed too thin. I tried the same thing, except in a 5w30, and it seems like it does better.
