Used tires?

I buy used tires sometimes, but only to match the odd one that got shoulder damaged before worn out and I don't want to throw out a perfectly good tire to make the set match left and right. So far they are good but it is not worth it IMO to replace 2 or 4 at a time with used. I can usually find good new tires that are not much more expensive, and the installers will not blame their problems on "used" tires.

The tires in the photos look good. I have no problem using them myself.

Yeah, but tires are one of those things where it's the least worth it to buy used, except in a few very specific circumstances.

You don't have to spend $1300 on a set of new tires, even for your FJ Cruiser :D

Is your tire size 265/75-16? I assume you have the TRD edition
At Walmart, you can get a set of tires as low as $500 :)
Landsail tires under $100 each, so even with installation it should be under $500
If you want more off-road oriented tires, these Crossmax tires are $118, so the set of 4 installed would be around $600

Plenty of tires in the $150 range, so $700 installed
Ours is lited and has 285/70/17. Walmart won't install a different size than factory.

Coincidentally, the Crossmax is the same price in that size too :)

Some people have gotten around Walmart's OE size policy by carrying the wheels in the store, not installed on any car ;)

And of course, another option is to buy the tires for ship to home then bring them to the installer of your choice.

If you still don't want to do that, America's Tire has tires in that size for $140 each plus install, and they even have an option for lifted trucks and alternate tire sizes, including the one you're using :)

Just going through this for my BIL's Camry. Got a set of Sumitomos with 6-7/32 for $75 on Chevy rims. Going to peel them off the rims, then sell the rims, basically getting free tires. Pays to have a tire machine; there isn't much competition in other buyers since mounting costs the same if not more with used vs new rubber.
