I buy my underwear at K-Mart.

KMart sucks! lol

Joking aside, I always check the cap and open the filter box.

I wouldn't doubt that an employee put a used return back on the shelf by accident. I'm usually pretty clean with spillage during a change and the jug is still clean so it's possible.

When I lived in South Texas for 15+ years, the local popular demographic of the area was notorious for the returned used oil scam. You always had to double check for the seals before leaving the store. Most local Wal-Marts of the area were getting astute to it but some still made it back on the shelf at times.

This actually happens more often with filters.....than it does with oil believe it or not.......it's easy to open a Bosch D+, put it into it's equivalent shaped FRAM PH orange-can equivalent.....and my local Walmart actually started checking all oil filter boxes thru the check out line......since it's apparantly been a heavy hitter......they'll get the 10-15$ Bosch Distance Plus bad-[censored] filter, and put it in a FRAM ExtraGuard (orange can) box....get the Bosch for the price of a ExtraGuard.......very dirty....

Or maybe someone left the jug outside the Wally TLE. The tire jockey didn't know what to do with it, so he moves it inside.
I know a lot of people like razzing TLE service area.....but their techs are not stupid.....they take used oil.....they are going to know not to put anything left outside, back onto the shelf without examination first......

As we all know, the customer service people at Walmart just go through the motions and take back almost anything within reason.

Go into a Walmart in 11PM or midnight. The people working there are as weird as the people shopping there.

In the few Walmart stores I have brought in used oil I had to log it in. But I have also just left it there if they were busy or no one around. But the used oil should immediately go out into the service area and be dumped. Its a hazmat item once its been used.

This is the awnser to the problem.

Yeah slap it in a orange fram box and take it to the self check out, 3 bucks for a 11 dollar filter won't find a better deal anywhere

This kind of story just make me wonder what happen to peoples' moral/ethical standard. I mean I like deals, rebate/ price match... but this is scamming/ stealing...
Bosch D+ vs Fram is funny lol

Same thing happened to me when I was picking up MaxLife at AAP. Funny thing was that it was a WalMart jug and the guy couldn't scan it so he manually rings up the sale price. I figured there was some new Wal-Mart/AAP oil supply deal.

I finally decided to check the cap and discovered it was loose and I walked out of the store in disgust.

Not for me. Even with this incident I still prefer the convenience of my oil inventory being readily available at the local Walmart or auto part stores. I know I'll get flamed for this, but I just can't get myself to buy into the Amsoil sales model. I'm not a long OCI guy so I just as well buy the M1 off the shelf that is on the dexos list.
