Looking at this 2024 enclosed trailer with a salvage title, simply as it was close to "home" and solved some challenges I have with an upcoming move.
This trailer is 24 feet long, and has two 5k lbs axles (10k GVWR). Like the plywood interior, but appears to be a base trailer with no significant upgrades.

Trailer was salvaged because of theft. This exact trailer can be purchased brand new today for $11k USD.

I was outbid at $6950 USD, which was significantly higher than I wanted to go, but I have a problem to solve. The high bid on this trailer is now $8050, which is $9516 USD out the auction lot. The title still needs to be converted from salvage to rebuilt to license the trailer for public road use.

I don't get the pricing on used trailers, but I have been working hard for multiple months to purchase a used trailer and am finding the prices still red hot.

Update, high bid is now $9050 USD, which is $10,666 USD out the auction lot, before tax, title, etc....

This goes against your SOP but have you considered buying a used trailer or even a new trailer, doing what you need to do then selling it for a minimal loss? If the trailer market is hot you should be able to buy/sell a used one, not need to rebuild it and go through all the paperwork stuff and resell it for little or no loss.

Good idea AZJ, I just don't want the hassle of selling a trailer. I have little money, but even less time than money. Heck, I have a hard enough time giving real good stuff away.....

Brother GON, the trailer market has been screaming hot for over 30 years. If you see a used trailer you like, you have to buy it quick, or it's gon.... lol

I agree that trailor's bring big money. Probably due to lots of construction companies hoard them like trophy's. The auto market is softening but could still use a little cooling off before the hot bargains show up.

I feel like the trailer market has cooled around here somewhat. I can get a new 20ft equipment trailer with 2 5k axles for $4k now and that's down by around a grand from peak covid pricing. I paid $5500 for a 22ft with 2 7k axles and a few upgrades 2 years ago. I just picked up a 1 year old 6x12 dovetail tube built trailer with a 3500lb axle for $1500. I haven't been tracking enclosed trailers though..

My brother in law has a 24ft enclosed trailer he isn't using.. Maybe he should sell it vs holding for occasional use. As a side note it is the only trailer that I've towed that's "to much" for my ram. The tounge weight on that thing empty is more than my 10k tractor on top of my 22ft equipment trailer..

I’d just buy a new one, what are you going to save, maybe $2k and potentially have to work through fixing it or paperwork?

Have you considered a 26 foot Uhaul box truck rental? I've seen you post and struggle with this for awhile.
