Used Amsoil EA15K13 C&P

Another c&p with approximately 7400 miles on this ea15k04 and HPL premium plus pax 0w20. This stuff is knocking all sorts of carbon off the engine and thankfully the filter is (seemingly) catching it! Wire mesh backing was intact. Center plastic support tube held up just fine. I used a hacksaw for the disassembly.

Nice work sir. What went back on and in? Thank You

New HPL same type - I’m not stopping that workhorse! And a Napa gold filter I’ve been sitting on debating using it or not. Ultimately I threw it on. I will be doing a c&p on that one after it comes off to compare its catching vs the amsoil.
Solid plan sir. Thank You

If you’re talking about the circled area, I think that was symmetrical on the opposite side too. I’m guessing from the stamping?

Yes. This ruffled appearance from the stamping has been a consistent finding in the “leaky bypass valves” saga, due to allowing oil to constantly bypass filtration even when the valve is closed.

(facepalm)

gotcha. I thought this was NOT an issue with Amsoil filters...clearly I was mistaken! so next time, get a flashlight oily and shine light below via the center tube and see if I can see "daylight" with the spring still in position?

Yes. Precisely. I’m wondering if Amsoil changes those who make their filters like many other brands have; going to premium guard

It's a Champ Labs made filter issue. The Amsoil filters are made by Champ Labs.

Who else makes filters for Amsoil, and which models or line aren't Champ Labs?
Donaldson, Hastings, Baldwin(?) Wix (Mann+Hummel)

I can't exactly say, I actually don't know by part number. All I know is Ea15K series appear to be made by Champ Labs and the EaO made by Donaldson or Hastings (maybe some smaller models made by Champ). The BP and HD filters made by Donaldson.

It would be cool if ordering an EaO filter in some of the smaller sizes was an option. I’ve given up on trying f to get a Donaldson high end small filter for the applications I have to cover.
