Maybe there is more to this than we all currently know. The fact that they landed on "Space Force" for the name is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard

Actually, I think it’s a good idea, just like, in 1947, it was a good idea to create an Air Force to specialize in that domain. The Space Force was a dumb idea. Go back to it being a part of the Air Force.

Space clearly belongs to the service that provided:Why stop there? Just put both back under the Army Air Corps.
Astro, thanks for sharing that!Space clearly belongs to the service that provided:
1. The first American in space
2. The first American to orbit the Earth
3. The first man on the moon
4. It’s own satellite communication network
5. A global ability to detect, track and shoot down ballistic missiles
6. The ability to shoot down satellites in orbit
The UNITED STATES NAVY.
Now, while all that is true, it does suggest that there are overlaps, and therefore potential conflicts and inefficiencies, in doctrine, capability development, training, and operations in space across the US services. Just as we organized responsibility for Air operations under a US Air Force, doing the same for Space has the potential for harmonizing and aligning space capability development and operations under a single authority.
How does someone get a chest full of ribbons in the space force a service that has only existed for a year?
You’re clearly not familiar with the USAF and their ribbons…How does someone get a chest full of ribbons in the space force a service that has only existed for a year?

True story: got my first ribbon/medal, an Air Medal, after I had been in for four years and had flown in combat. I was a Navy LT (O-3).
My kid brother went though USAF OTS at Maxwell AFB in AL. On his uniform, prior to graduation, so still an officer candidate who hadn’t left the confines of the base, were TWO FULL ROWS of ribbons. Six in all.
For being in the USAF for twelve weeks and not deploying at all.
So, yeah.
USAF and their ribbons…
All they need is a white towel over their arm and they could wait tables .
100% safer knowing that we will have a separate military watching over us from Space!Space Force is a bad joke or a bet that it couldn't be done. Does anyone feel full of pride or even feel safer having a Space Force?
Should all be part of the Air Force mission if there is anything serious that they do.
I wasn't referring to AF Flight Attendants .Have you seen the uniforms the Air Force flight attendants wear? Now I suppose they might serve the President a meal, so they generally don't wear flight suits for that duty.
I respect your Dad’s service.Hmm while I get the "DIG" my dad retired USAF and had flown in combat in 2 conflicts Korean and Vietnam was decorated with not only the Purple Heart but also the Silver Star . He does not have a chest full of ribbons and also was one of the still living today that started his Air Force career as a private and worked up to becoming an officer and a pilot. He flew TAC, MAC and SAC . Next year he will be 90 years old. So keep that in mind when some of you post things like " USAF and their ribbons…" in the future!
