US Space force proposed uniform

Why stop there? Just put both back under the Army Air Corps.
Space clearly belongs to the service that provided:

1. The first American in space
2. The first American to orbit the Earth
3. The first man on the moon
4. It’s own satellite communication network
5. A global ability to detect, track and shoot down ballistic missiles
6. The ability to shoot down satellites in orbit

The UNITED STATES NAVY.

Now, while all that is true, it does suggest that there are overlaps, and therefore potential conflicts and inefficiencies, in doctrine, capability development, training, and operations in space across the US services. Just as we organized responsibility for Air operations under a US Air Force, doing the same for Space has the potential for harmonizing and aligning space capability development and operations under a single authority.

Astro, thanks for sharing that!

And as everyone all knows, Naval Aviation is a great place for one to earn their wings if they don't have what it takes to get accepted into Army Aviation..... :ROFLMAO::eek::sneaky:

JK!!!

Naval Aviators have the well earned reputation as our Military's finest pilots...

How does someone get a chest full of ribbons in the space force a service that has only existed for a year?

Former Air Force personnel. I wonder what happens when someone transfers to a different service. I've heard of pilot transfers from the USAF to USN.

The name Space Force is fitting. What you some of you call them Cosmic crusaders?
The uniforms are one suggested choice I am sure they will be refined.
I totally agree that anything having to do with the USA going into space as a military should rightfully be a separate branch of the military.
The medals knowing what they are for showing the prospective uniforms adding color and character.

You’re clearly not familiar with the USAF and their ribbons…

True story: got my first ribbon/medal, an Air Medal, after I had been in for four years and had flown in combat. I was a Navy LT (O-3).

My kid brother went though USAF OTS at Maxwell AFB in AL. On his uniform, prior to graduation, so still an officer candidate who hadn’t left the confines of the base, were TWO FULL ROWS of ribbons. Six in all.

For being in the USAF for twelve weeks and not deploying at all.

So, yeah.

USAF and their ribbons…

I distinctly remember stories (mostly from Tom Wolfe's The Right Stuff) that John Glenn was derisively called "Mr. Clean the Marine" by the rest of the Mercury Seven for being such a goody two shoes. Also - the first man on the moon was technically a civilian.

My tour of NAS Alameda back in the early 80s was led by a Petty Officer 2nd Class with a journalist rating. He said that he had been in the Navy for less than a year and had about two rows of ribbons. But he might have had an associates or bachelors degree before enlisting. Don't recall exactly what they were other than I remember when we asked he said a couple of them were for marksmanship. For a public affairs guy.

Hmm while I get the "DIG" my dad retired USAF and had flown in combat in 2 conflicts Korean and Vietnam was decorated with not only the Purple Heart but also the Silver Star . He does not have a chest full of ribbons and also was one of the still living today that started his Air Force career as a private and worked up to becoming an officer and a pilot. He flew TAC, MAC and SAC . Next year he will be 90 years old. So keep that in mind when some of you post things like " USAF and their ribbons…" in the future!

Space Force is a bad joke or a bet that it couldn't be done. Does anyone feel full of pride or even feel safer having a Space Force?

Should all be part of the Air Force mission if there is anything serious that they do.

100% safer knowing that we will have a separate military watching over us from Space!
Maybe you forget what some government's in other countries "did" in the past do now and have in orbit right now.
And yes because it is Space it should be a SPACE FORCE and NOT the Air Force. If for any other reason think of this... there is no air in space. ;)🤣

Have you seen the uniforms the Air Force flight attendants wear? Now I suppose they might serve the President a meal, so they generally don't wear flight suits for that duty.
I wasn't referring to AF Flight Attendants .

I respect your Dad’s service.

Everything I said was true.

Got my first ribbon after four years and a combat deployment.

USAF handed out six of them to officer candidates after a couple of weeks on base.
