US Crosses the Electric-Car Tipping Point for Mass Adoption

Even if EVs are 99¢ for a new vehicle I would still choose a gas powered vehicle, I might be old fashioned, but I would rather stick with what works, I see no good in going all electric, it might just be my opinion, but I'm sure a lot of mechanics wouldn't be too happy if they learned their trade only to have to relearn how to work on electrical devices instead on engines.

What will EV owners do when this hits our shores? It’s not like you can “hoard” electricity…

The Germans are insane. World population 8000 million, German population only 80 million (and declining rapidly) So Germany has 1% of the world population, so them going 'green' isn't going to move the needle if China, India, Russia, etc are going the other direction. German industry will close/collapse due to too expensive or unavailable energy in Germany, and that 'lost' industrial production will just happen elsewhere in the world using someone else's 'dirty' carbon fuels, so Germany going 'green' is just causing the relocation of where all the smokestacks are located ignoring that ALL smokestacks in the world still feed into the SAME Earth's atmosphere!

Germany is rationing bcs. they had abysmal energy policy.

Big selling point according to my real estate agent on a home I sold a few months ago was it is set up with two 240 volt garage outlets and one for the driveway.
How many amps are the breakers? A good charger requires 240 V 50 amps. Most “ home welder” type setups are less than this and don’t have the required 6 gauge wiring for 50 amps. Of course most buyers might not understand that.

The Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus requires a Nema 14-50 outlet supplying 240 Volts and 40 Amps. And actually charges at 32 Amps.

EVs work with less moving parts-90% less
Tesla vehicles have an average of just 17-18 pieces in their powertrain, compared to 200 in a standard ICE.
Even if we are incredibly charitable and take this highly conservative estimate for the number of components within an internal-combustion powertrain, Tesla is still functioning with less than 10% of the parts that ordinary cars have. At the most optimistic estimate, it is barely 1% of the pieces.

I believe there is a major deception in place that is pushing for the change from gas to electric, another thing to consider is if people are bullied into switching from gas to electric how will the poor stay mobile? Even the average Joe working full time at minimum wage or a little over will have a hard time coming up with the money to buy the new rc cars that are forced on them, I say bullied because we see a lot of do what I say or else these days.

Thank you! My dad doesn't seem to think there is an issue. I don't care if gas is $11 a gallon. I still don't want an electric vehicle. If you could charge in 3-4 minutes and have a full battery I'd see it. The Tesla semi is good to take forever and a day to charge.
Gas, inflation wise is not expensive. It’s less if the family budget than the 1970s.
Furthermore if your paying over $4 a gallon maybe those people should move 🤣
I paid $3.75 yesterday.
So let’s see, do I pay $15,000 to $20,000 or more for an EV at a huge inconvenience to fuel it?
I think not, EVs great as a commuter car but otherwise I am fortunate enough to be able to afford the convenience of gas and drive nice and comfy long range in my SUV 🙃

There is still 276 million ICE vehicles registered in the USA for the mechanics to work on.The average age of the fleet is 12 years and each year another 15 million are sold. Reaching 5 % EV’s in the sales category is hardly breath taking as most these sales were to Wanabees and tech geeks. It will be a long slow climb.

This whole thing is so transparent Stevie Wonder could see right through it. In Holland the state are taking farms in the name of climate change, they shot one kid protesting on a tractor, the problem is they have no 2nd amendment so they cannot revolt. They are all seriously F***d yet they want every A hole to have an EV regardless. Without enormous amounts of cheap nuclear power full transition to EV is not close to being possible.
People need to throw the rose colored glasses in the friggin bin once and for all.

Why are they supposedly so trouble prone according to the reliability ratings?
