Upgrade time

So, spring has come, and my laziness is failing, and the relays and wires are sitting in my closet gathering dust, and screaming to be used. So, it’s time to upgrade my car’s lighting. My bulbs leave something to be desired. I have H4 bulbs in there, and the housing is huge. Most of the stuff I find here is cheap blue bulbs, with an occasional 60/80 watt clear bulb. Online, I don’t see much else on Ebay, haven’t found any HIR’s, and don’t know when the Extreme Power H4’s will hit the market here. So, here is the question I pose to you. With upgraded wiring, and access to any bulbs in America or Japan, what would you put in the car? I will have my parents bring H4 harnesses and whatever bulbs when they come, and I will rig up the wiring something this month or next.

I don't know if I want to mess with HID's unless they can be had for less than $150.

If possible, you want to clean the reflector and glass lens while you are in there.Alcohol on the reflector, glass polish on the lens. Use Phillips or Osram bulbs. Avoid PIAA.

I will be polishing up the windows and then probably the headlights when I get some Bon Ami from the states. I am gonna have my parents bring me some I think. I will look around at the Osram and PHillips stuff. WHy don't you like the PIAA stuff?

In my opinion PIAA is an outfit just in business for the money with little interest is superior lighting. Their bulbs are expensive but low output coated items that pop out of poorly managed factories in China without regard to focus or good optical performance. Stick with name brand products for quality lighting products.

Please explain. For $130 I can get a single H4, or for $270 I can get bi-xenons.

Looks like I can get X-treme Powers for $50 or HIDs for $130.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from the H.I.D kits, most have terible output,color,and glare like no other. The failure rate is extremely high, and were banned in this country Sept of 2003. I have talked with people who have had a kit then installed OEM, and the hands down concensus is that the OEM parts are significantly brighter,and will last longer.

I am looking into the Extreme Power bulbs, and might go for some HIDs if I ever get projector headlights, and I learn how to properly set up the lights. Still have a lot of reading to do at HIDPlanet. All I need now is to find a 4 inch projector housing that will take H3 bulbs.

X-tremes are on their way. Already have the relay stuff at the apartment, just need to get started, and get the bulbs here.

I am getting my car inspected next week, and should be getting started on the wiring harness the following day.
