Just thought I would share an observation now that the car has been with me 55 months after buying it new. It currently has 37,300 miles on it after a trip from central PA where I live to Lancaster PA today. Total round trip distance is about 255 miles for me. I drive this trip regularly and have since buying the car. In the first year, I would average about 33-35 mpg (done by fillup method) but as the car has accumulated more mileage this has continued to improve. Today's trip I got about 38.5 mpg. Clearly the car is "loosening up" and is not showing any negative behavior as yet that can be attributed to the DI/turbo setup. The car remains powerful, responsive and fun to drive. The good gas mileage is icing on the cake.

And as I have said before, never once in for warranty work.

Start knocking on wood, as fast as you can, furiously!!

This is my fourth VW in almost 12 years. All have performed flawlessly and none ever required warranty work. I have talked to a number of local folks with the DI engines in VW, some with close to 100,000 miles on them. None of them has ever had a problem with power, mileage, acceleration, etc. None have had the valves cleaned. Not to say I won't but I am impressed with the consistent performance of the 1.8 and 2.0 liter engines. Mine has its oil changed every 5000 miles and burns zero oil between changes.

Between my FSI-turbo and TSI engines, over 300,00 mile combined, over 100,000 miles you should start looking into the intake valve deposits.

Nice. I almost have 4,000 on mine. I did finally flash unitronic stage 1 ecu and tcu. Drives great, can’t think of anything I would rather have for a daily work beater.

Good to hear your positive experience. Thanks for sharing. We only have 4K on our 2020 Jetta (1.4) but it’s in the body shop now. Can’t wait to get it back!

Mine (Passat not Alltrack) is at 53k not a single repair either although I've got a little fluid on the bottom of the engine, can't tell if it's spillage from adding/changing or a seep but I'll have them look at it at 60k when it get's it's maintenance.

I've done all the maintenance exactly as scheduled and expect to keep this car a long time.
