Yall may remember that we bought cousin casey a 99 Trooper back in January. It had 229000 miles on it and we paid $2100 for it.

I figured that $2100 is equal to 4 new car payments so if it lasted 4 months it's a win.

Currantly has 236000 miles on it.

I did have to replace the non OEM EGR valve with a new nos one I found on eBay . It would occasionally throw an egr low flow code even after I cleaned the carbon from the rest of the EGR system.

$60 for that and the code has not returned.

Had to replace the TPS . It had an AutoZone one according to a recept I found in the glove box.

I paid $35 or so for an NTK one from rock auto. The AutoZone one was making it shift erratically and even chirping the tires with harsh shifts.

The NTK one fixed that issue.

The drivers seat is now completely worn out. Been watching picapart for a trooper I can get a seat from. She sits on a pillow for now.

I did have to replace the gates water pump that was only a few months old. I bought a whole dayco kit with the timing belt,wp etc for $112 from the rock auto clearance section

Rear pads from rock auto.. $15 or so.

These troopers are known to use oil. She checks it weekly and on Saturdays I check all cars fluid levels. It uses about 1 qt of oil every other week.

It's currantly running traveler 10w30. I did run 15w 40 in it but got concerned about contaminating the catalytic converters.it used much less of the 15w40.
The consumption seems to be improving some. I have some B12 to do a piston soak when I service it again.

The car has been down cajon pass and back up several times as well as to the court in Barstow,Ca many times. She is now using it to go to the local community collage we call tumbleweed tech 3 days a week.

Sure it's not perfect but I think it's been ok for the price and once I got the EGR and TPS figured out has ran flawless.

Oh. A few weeks ago she was at the gas station pumping gas and a guy behind her was pulling out and hit the rear bumper. Scratched the plastic bumper but the plastic nose on the car that hit her got pulled off.

He hit the trooper, went past the troopers bumper then decided to back up and when he did his plastic front fascia got pulled off.

He no habla English, no insurance etc. she got the plate # but it's from Mexico and the guy drove off as fast as possible dragging his front fascia down the street.
