Found cousin Casey a car.

I used to mountain bike with a guy that had one of these, not sure what year his was. His had overheating issues, so might be worth keeping an eye out for it.
Sheer guess it was guy problem.

This one made it 26 years which overheating issues have been addressed or never happened as it would have destroyed it.

Good price for the current used car market, a vehicle with up to date reg, passed smog, and everything working, for $2k is great!
I figure that if it makes 3 months without a major problem I will break even. The price I paid is about 3 new car payments.

If it lasts longer than 3 months It's a win lol.

I checked the oil tonight after their fast trip to court yesterday thinking if it was going to use oil it would have done it on that trip.

It's still full. Maybe the Rislone did something?

I replaced the PCv valve and it's grommet today. The old one was definitely bad as I can blow through it both ways.

I determined that Honda sold the same car as the Trooper but called it a passport.

Searching for trooper parts seems to have slim pickings. But if I search for a part for a passport I get more hits.

Found aPCv valve with grommet on eBay for $10 shipped. It came in a Honda bag. Assuming it's not counterfeit it should be oe.

It fit fine.

Sounds good to me. Maybe some hard running is loosening things up and maybe it'll burn a bit less. Or it was the PCV valve after all.

Run it until it won't. Sounds like you made out on this one.

Negative. The old Honda Passport was a rebadged Isuzu Rodeo. Honda did sell a rebadged version of the Isuzu Trooper but it was sold under the Acura nameplate and called SLX (if you are looking for parts for your Trooper an Acura dealer is a good place to find them).
The GM 4L30E automatic transmission used in these was problematic as was the automatic 4x4 system. With as many miles as yours has the transmission has likely already been rebuilt/replaced, and if you are not getting a warning light for the 4x4 system, the failure-prone parts have likely also been replaced.

It needs one of the vacuum actuators for the front axle. Have not found one yet
