just hit 1000 miles this week.

Pros:
Decent to amazing fuel economy with 87 octane (19.8 avg, 23-24 easily on highway)
comfortable
free wifi and sirius are great

Cons:
Shift flares often on 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4 shifts with moderate throttle input.
Fuel economy on E85 is abysmal (13.8 or less over two tanks)
Will not go into V4 mode when cruise is on even on flat terrain going 55mph or less
wifi and sirius are only free for 3 months (lame) and packages are vastly overpriced to consider keeping them.
Express down windows are a PITA and are nearly impossible to get them to stop where you want them. They need to dial back the switch sensitivity in a MAJOR way.

-On another note, I drove my BIL's 2015 Dodge with the V6 and 8-speed and was immediately disappointed in my Chevy. Dodge freakin' nailed that truck. Ride is smoother and more comfortable with noticeably less bounce, trans shifts are nearly undetectable, power is amble and exhaust sound is gorgeous, drivers seat is much more firm and comfortable. I so wish Dodge would've had lease offers similar to what Chevy had, I would've got a RAM in a heartbeat. The only thing I like better on the GM than the RAM is the tailgate. The chevy's is light and drops slowly with some form of internal assistance while the RAM's is heavy and drops like a stone. I've spoke with two other buddies with Chevy full-size trucks and they both have driven the RAM and said it is their last Chevy for sure.

^^^Agreed, the trans is only acceptable in our 3500 series trucks. In the lighter duty versions it is not the best by far.

As for the Ram, we bought one for our personal use as it is leagues beyond the competition. The amazing 8 speed trans and its near perfect programming are only one rason why...

I hear there are some good deals on barely used Rams on the market now!

PS after Dodge has tried what is it? The 4th fix?

; )

First world problems in a vehicle meant for work.

I agree about auto set windows when you just want to crack them. But they're so handy otherwise. I think a two position switch is optimal versus a timer setting.

No way I'd want tailgate assist. Have people gotten overly soft or what? Save me the $50 in purchase price and give me two less things to break ten years from now.

I don't find the tailgate on mine to be heavy at all. No need for "assistance" for opening the gate. The "free" Sirius XM package is good for a year on mine as well.

It's too bad the financing kept you out of the truck you really wanted. Curious what the $ difference was?

Could it be that the FCA lease rate is higher because the truck is projected to be worth less at lease end?

Interesting how the discussion about the truck is about the smooth ride and smooth shifting/bad shifting and funky window switches and tailgate dampers and not about the utility and hauling and ground clearance and truck stuff...

The Silverado has a truck rear suspension - not something that was designed to appease those who have no plans of using their truck as a truck. That would explain the rougher ride.

I could see the timed window switch getting anoying. I have (unfortunately) always had vehicles with power windows - but two position switches for auto down. Seemed to work well enough for me.

As others have said-shift flares are normal. The six speed transmissions have their good points and bad. On the plus side the funky shifting seems to have no bearing on reliability thus far.

Enjoy your truck.

You really need more time in your truck to get use to it.
I have a new F 350 with six hundred miles on it and I like it far better than my 2011 model. The shifts are perfect but the older truck was like yours.

I have a 2010 Silverado with the 5.3 engine and 6 speed trans. The transmission shifting takes some getting used to. I took mine back to the dealer early in the trucks life and complained about the trans, they said it was normal and after driving several other trucks, it is. The power window issue is easily overcome once you get used to it. Mine will go into V4 mode with light to moderate throttle pressure on the freeway. I like the truck and wouldn't swap it for a Dodge or a Ford.

As for Sirius....when the trial runs out, just wait a couple of weeks. Sirius will hit you up with some good offers. I recently re-upped for the 3rd time @ ~$27/6 months, which includes fees and tax. You just need to make a note in your calendar to cancel your subscription just before the 6 months is up, else Sirius will automatically roll you over into an annual full-price plan ($170/yr or more if I remember correctly). That is how they make their $$...they are hoping you will forget to cancel before 6 months is up.

I will have had my '14 Silverado 2 years this coming December. Other than 1 AC hose replacement because of a leak, and a few early recalls taken care of during dealer oil changes, the truck has run perfect (~24k miles)

Yeah and let them keep it. Whoever said that a manufacturer knows best j as never been in a "properly" tuned product.

Get a tune void your warranty. It's has been determined by a tech on a Chevy Truck board I frequent that GM can tell when a reflash takes place on the ECM. So-putting a tune on then taking it off prior to a visit to a Dealer is no longer an option.

BTW-It also has been determined you can't hide behind the Mag-Moss act either. The act addresses "PARTS" not software.

So you mean someone can't destroy their truck rollin' coal and then go back to the manufacturer to fix it?

Gee, its as if oem's could read the owners minds... or have access to the internet or something.

No surprise that they can detect when a tune is installed. I wonder if the other oem's will follow suit.

is it?
I've had it a month and a half. And its a lease. The $80 box lighting kit is awesome and it hauled the kids go kart fine. Are you happy now?

On an additional point-there is also a TSB out from GM to dealers to check for a Tune prior to any power train issues that may be covered under warranty.

Yep-they have it covered every which way. I suppose if your a computer geek one may figure a way around all this-but most truck owners are not computer geeks!
